Well, I have a German shepherd, And he knows how to open, BOTH of the Doors(One is a slide door, Than a door when you pull down Door nob, It opens, My dog can open both of the doors, He has scratched up BOTH of them so much, All of the paint is off, So i'd like to know if you have any idea how to get him to stop scratching the door? Any help would be great.

By the way hes 8 months old now. Hes very large already because the amount of wolf he has in him.

Daisy did that too:) I told her a firm NO! and she eventually stopped, You could try buying a "screen" to put as a cover for the door, and it would help with the damage. Also, when does he scratch the door? Maybe you could give him a few bones or a kong to keep him occupied.:)

i would tell him a firm NO and let him in when he stops scratchng the door, that way he could see if he stops, then he will be let in:)

Try to teach him a "no" command or a "leave it" command. Tell him one of the commands (only use one command or it may confuse him) very firmly and never ever let him in while he scratches as that is rewarding him for scratching. Wait until he stops scratching to let him in. Maybe nail a piece of carpet in the spot or hang a bell on the door & teach him to ring it to be let in. If he has a lot of wolf &/or he has been doing this for a long time he may be stubborn & a little hard to re-train. Patience & practice & he should learn.
