Yeah......let's hope it stay that way.
ya. there is a park here in terre haute that people just drop dogs and cats off. i've seen it before. i saw a guy drive up, and get a box of kittens out and sit them down and sat on a bench. i asked him after a while if they were his,and he said he had never seen them before.

Why can't these morons who don't desex their cats find homes for them? Whenever we ended up with an unintentional litter when I was a child, we ALWAYS found all the babies furrever homes no matter how much trouble it was. Of course, much thanks can be given to the electronic bulletin board at Mum's work that was just phenomenal!
The furrbabies new meowmies used to even send us cards and piccies! :)
How could you be so irresponsible to just leave them in a park? Grrrr, that makes me very mad! And glad that people like K&L are doing whatever they can to help the situation :)
i didn't leave them there.......i took them to the shelter on my way back home.

Kim you keep up the good work. Believe me, we've made our mistakes and learned alot from them along the way. It all pays in the end. The best way to look at rescue is: you do what you can to help. It may not always turn out the way you want it to, but you've given them more of a chance than they would've had. We have done some where in the 90 plus range at the park. There's only about 40 left, but now they're not reproducing and more babies without a home or love. Hang in there, it will all work out.

Congratulations, may this be the first of many years of no newborn kittens born on site.
Now if you can just convince idiots to stop dumping cats there.....

TNR = Trap Neuter Release
This ends up with sterile community of cats. No more unwanted kittens. Plus a stable group will prevent stranger cats moving in.

That's exactly right! Our park colonies are now not reproducing, are maintaining at about 40 cats, we feed/water, and they all seem happy. Here's a link to some of the cats there:

What great photos but it makes me a little sad that they don't have homes.
Though I guess that they are mainly feral and can't be rehomed ?
You do such a good job looking after those cats.
PS. They all look in very good condition for living outside full time.

Yes they are all feral! We have rehomed those that were adoptable. But as you can see, these are well taken care of (none of them look like they're lacking for food).
Actually they probably have about the best there is for a feral situation. They are in an area away from traffic, fenced in away from the public, are being fed, neutered/spayed, and have been provided all kinds of covered protection from weather etc. Here's just one of many: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid28/p27a15c545da93edbe0cd7e9eb1734f55/fd66564d.jpg
Like you, I wish they could all have a loving home! Thanks for your compliments. We really enjoy taking care of all these babies.

Some nights it's very hard to leave. We do stay and talk with them and try and get them to come to us. They all have a name and there are some that are our favorites!

Hey K&L...I've changed my name from Dr.D where I met you initially to lotsocats here. Thanks for the link to this forum.
I am amazed that you have no kittens at the park this year. How relieved you must be. That is such a powerful reflection of the years of hard work you have done with the park ferals.
Bravo!!!

You have all the right to brag here: the cats in your feral colony all look so self-confident and healthy -I am sure they have the best feral life that is possible -and it's a good life:) :D

Aw thank you so much! They're about as spoiled as you can spoil a feral. We love them!:)
