The other morning, Tiger, my lynx-point Siamese, was eager to get me up early in the morning. Since I usually keep the radio going all night, she came up to me while I was still asleep, and turned the dial on the radio. (This type of antic is not uncommon for her.) Since there was no station to where she had turned it, the noise woke me up. Needless to say, I got the picture and climbed out of bed, and fed Tiger.:D

It is amazing what cats will do to get fed.

:D I can just see Tiger turning the radio dial, saying this will get my breakfast served. LOL

George has an entire library of wake up tricks.

Starting with licking or poking my face.
All the way up, to biting my hair.
His last resort sitting on my face (so I wake up to a belly full of fur) always wakes me up.

Silly kitties but they always seem to get what they want ? Maybe not to silly then. LOL

LOL that is sooo cute!
My husband has his alarm set to the radio, but he has it set LOUD, and still won't wake up to it... I thought I was the only one in the house to get annoyed by it going off so loud and for so long, but no.. I went in one morning to wake him up so I could think in peace.. and saw Mozart pawing at his face, with this look on his face that said "oh please get up NOW, this is hurting my ears"

LOL! Tiger, you're a smart kitty waking your dad up like that - or were you trying to find some better music? ;) I hope you got the treats you wanted! :D

Does anyone leave dry food out all the time? I never did that with my first cat, but I do now. All they get is dry food, actually, and there is a full bowl for them all the times.

The coolest thing about is they don't overeat. Each one of them if the right weight for their frame. Flora is the lightest at about 6 pounds and Vashti is the heaviest at about 12 pounds.

And while they still might wake me up occasion (ie: My boy Ender turns in his sleep so that his rear feet often end up in my face and he kicks me while he's dreaming), they don't require me to get up a certain hour everyday for food. In fact, they're often more lazy than I am, not even opening an eye until they hear the "click" of the alarm clock being turned off, a sure sign that the humans are going to actually get out of bed.

The only down side to an all dry food diet is that they suck down water like it were booze and they all pee like racehorses. Yuck.

Kacey once woke a friend of mine up by stepping on the speed dial bright 'n early one morning. He also managed to activate the speaker on the phone, so I awoke to a sleepy disembodied voice saying "Hello? Hello?"

Maybe he decided that if I wouldn't get up and feed him, he'd call someone else.

this is not the only intelligent antics I have seen Tiger do. It is too ealy in the morning right now to remember others. Anyway, when I am ready to get up, I will always announce, "Cats, lets get up". This is done every morning, and all of them sleeping on the covers (usually about 5 to 7 of them) will begin to move around, until I actually get up.

Rhiannon, yes I leave dry cat food out all the time for my menagerie. However, Tiger is fed separately because of her having digestion problems when she was younger. So, when she is very hungry and wants to be fed, she always comes to me in some of the strangest cat ways, in order to get my attention.

Tibby wakes me up all the time, not because she's hungry. They have dry food all day and I give them their canned food at night. But she wakes me up so that she can play, she usually slaps me in the face, then I pull the covers over my head, then she starts to bite my toes. I eventually wake up and chase her around the house until she gets tired, then I get to sleep again.
