Puppies are born!!

No pics yet and I wont have any until the pups are 5 weeks old, but anyway, my husband spoke with the breeder and they were born 3 hours before he spoke with the breeder today!! :) We are requesting a female and he is going to lean us toward the most "layed back one", since we have a small child and the energy levels of Swissies vary from puppy to puppy. Since we wont be showing the dog...companion dogs are on the more layed back side and the ones chosen to be show dogs usually have a higher energy level and show better. So i cant wait...how are we suppose to wait 8 weeks! :) As soon as i get pics or updates, i will post. Time to make a run to Petsmarts and pick up doggy toys!! Yeah, we are gonna be doggy parents soon. Well, i just had to share my update and will post anymore updates when i get them. She will come with a registered AKC name, but we are most likely gonna call her "Mocha"...after Swiss Mocha Chocolate...since she is a Swiss dog, and also has chocolate in her coloring.

The mommy had 10 puppies!! (5 of each sex)

Ohhh isn't it exciting??!??! I remember the day we were getting kai...I didn't let myself say we were getting a dog till we had him safe at home because I usually jinx it. How are you supposed to wait that long? LOL...well Congrats!

That's great news, I can't wait to see what Mocha is going to look like. Will you be able to take pictures while they are still with the breeder? If so, I'd love to see them;)

Robyn, I love the name Mocha. I have only seen one Swiss Mountain doggie and it was a love. They have lots of fur you know. It was at obedience school at the time. It was with a family with children, small children and it seemed fine with them. My guess is that most dogs raised around children will like children, especially once they figure out they can steal the childrens' food!

Are you going to crate train it? Everyone I know does this with the dogs until the dog is quite old. Of course, it will be up to you and if space is an issue, then .....

Gosh, I cannot wait. I bet you will have fun with Christian and the dog and going on lots of walks. I always had a dog as a child and bet that Christian will love having one around..... He will be in pet glory! 2 cats and a dog....and a Mom and Dad! And Grandparents too!

Congrats!!

Wow 10 pups? Mick's litter was 3 pups and the breeder was keeping the only female for herself. I guess our choice was a bit easier than :D

Remember, we want pictures ;)!
