How badly is Scooter hurt? Have you talked to his owners?

Next time just don't let your dog out freely, period...you can never know what could happen...your dog could have ran out into the road after another dog and be hit by a car too. I know he was just on the porch, but he bolted so quickly, so I'm sure it was hard to control him. Hopefully Scooter's owners will not let him run loose either.

scooter's ok, i usually put pepper in the back yard--we have a 7 ft. fence in the back, but some times pepper goes in the front with me; he usually stays on the porch with me but this was a first, she always the neighbor, lets scooter run, and pepper don't bother him, i'll just keep in the back , thanks:confused:

I do believe you should not have a dog free on your front porch or in your front yard unless hes got an electric fence or something to keep him their, But i let both of my dogs on my front porch without them running into the neighbors yard when he lets his Golden retrievers out. So yes, I believe you should eithor get an electric fence so it doesnt happen again, Or just keep him/her on a leash, But if you want you could let him out when the neighbors dog isnt outside:confused: Anyway, Goodluck.

I do see that it could be your fault, because Pepper should have been leashed, but what was Scooter doing going to the bathroom in your yard?? If anything, they should try to keep Scooter in their own yard.
I'm glad everyone is ok.

I agree partially w/ love my sheba. Yes it is PARTLY your fault as you should have control over your dog BUT scooter was in YOUR yard & going potty in it. Not sure why your neighbors just let their dog run loose, especially at an old age w/ hardly any teeth, therefore he probably can't take car of himself if something tragic happens. Your dog was probably just protecting HIS territory. I think it is mainly your neighbors fault though & they deffinetly need a lesson for proper animal care! Do your neighbors at least clean up after their dog? I am glad nothing tragic happened and since you have already discussd it w/ your neighbors & they don't seem to care about it I would just let it go. It's not going to do any good dwelling over this issue so do what you can to improve it. Just make sure they keep control of their dog & you do the same.

Yea i agree...It's partly your fault for having pepper out off leash but just equally your neighbor's fault for having scooter off leash..so who's really to blame?
