I really don't know what to do.... It's horrible, it's all over by his back right inside thigh... It's red and bumpy.. He licks at it and tonight i asked him "What?" and he started crying to me. Can dogs get heat rash, could that be it? If so, will it go away? Is there anything i can put on it? If need be, I'll take a picture of it.:( :( :( :(

Poor Sim:( I would imagine they could get a heat rash, but I'm not really sure. I hope it goes away soon. Hopefully someone will be able to answer this for you.

How long has he had it? It actually sounds kinda like he got into some bull nettle, but it could be anything. Did you take him anywhere different or unusual? Be careful of what you put on it, as he will probably lick it off. If you have any panalog try that. It's an ointment like Neosporin for dogs that won't make them sick if they lick it off. Cool (not cold or ice) compresses usually help a rash. It's probably burning from the licking. They start licking cause it itches then the licking makes it burn. Try to keep the cool compresses (cool damp cloths work best) on it and try to keep him from licking it. You can also give him Benadryl if you have it. Give him probably only one capsule. Let us know how he's doing. :(

He's had it for a few days. I put damp wash cloth on him last nigth after i waved it around to make it cool... he seemed to like that... What's Bull Nettle?? He hasn't been anywhere different. I feel so horrible when anything happens to him. He's such a good boy and doesn't deserve any pain at all :( Thanks for the info micki76...
Amy- Yeah, but it's more of a scab now. Have no idea what that was.

Bull nette is a weed that stings and burns when you come in contact with it. Doesn't sound like that's it, though. Could be any number of things. If it continues more than a couple of days, I'd take him to the vet. He could get a nasty staph infection from it.

Have you switched his food at all? It may an allergy starting, a heat rash or reaction to something. Try putting benadryl cream or cortisone cream on it just make sure he does not lick it off. Is it improving yet?

Poor Simba,

I hope he is doing better.
I was wondering the same thing, has he
gotten into anything lately that he might have
had an allergy reaction etc.? A rash could be caused
by so many things. :(
Please let us know how Simba is doing.
