I know how powerful the prayers and thoughts from you all on pet-talk are so may i ask for you all to think of a little Kitten about 4mths old ROMEO who is at present at the vets, he has a broken leg , and is pad is ripped to the bone , so far dont know about any more of his injuries, x-rays to follow.
He is a very much loved pet of someone i know and they are devastated, yes he was hit by a car, i wont go into details, and plz no lectures, i just want to have some positive thoughts go his way , so he can survive, i hope there are no worse things to follow, as his leg can be fixed for around 600 dollars and he should make a good recovery if thats all, but its sad he is suffering right now, i am worried about him, i was going up to see him this weekend, now i have to c this poor wee kitten suffering, i hope he makes it, and its just his leg, all the same its horrible.

I have just heard he is out of surgery, his paw has been stitched up and i guess the broken leg has been dealt with, so far so good, he had not peed yet, so thats a bit of a concern ,hopefully its just the traumau of it all, not something more sinister going on, will keep you updated as i hear, i will be going to c Romeo this weekend so i can get a better picture, i was so looking forward to meeting the little cutie, now i hate the thought of seeing him all patched up and in pain, mind you they do wonderful things these days for them.
THANK you all for the lovely kind and positive words, i know how powerful they can be, and i am sure they are helping Romeo and his owners get through this tragic ordeal.

Thank you all so much for your kind words, they are much appreciated, Romeo is four mths old, he has a small op, yesterday to repair his pad on his paw, and today he will undergo more surgery for his broken leg, they will be putting a pin in it, so i am keeping my fingers crossed all goes well, i will try to get pics of him if i can.
They have advised his owners to keep in in a confined area, perhaps the shower box until his leg heals, it seems everything else is ok so far, lets hope they dont find anything else wrong.
Now for the part that makes me very angry, Romeo was hit by the neighbours across the road, who run a business from home(probably illegal too we suspect) so there are cars coming and going all the time, apart from that it is not a busy road at all.
This is what makes my blood boil, the neigbours down the end of the road heard Romeo scream when he was hit, so obviously those who hit him did too, and they just left him and went on with their business, he dragged himself into the garage, where his owners immediately took him to the vet.can you just imagine it, brings tears to my eyes.
And also i have heard they suspect they mistreat their dog, the neighbours are getting together to do something about it, as the dog barks all the time, they have been seen hitting it with a stick, and i believe its left out in the elements, no wonder the poor thing barks all the time,.
Romeo's owners are going to c them about what happened, i have advised them to call the S.P.C.A, i believe the city council have been out about the dog barking, and done nothing, but it seems its time for further action for sure.
Some people just make me sooooo. damn mad .
    :( :(

ok that really upset me now when I read that Romeo screamed! I mean of course he did, he got hit by a car, but omg I just can picture it in my mind and it is as bad as if i had seen it! that poor sweet kitten! HOW can the s.o.b's ignore that? no humanity at all! I don't know how anyone could NOT, go over there and try to help the little sweetie! how long was he laying there?
if they are running an illegal business than no wonder theres cars coming and going all the time. you can bet they aren't there for the tupperware! I would report them too but be careful of those types of people.
poor little guy, one surgery and then another, that's alot of
anethesia! and then he will be confined, for 6 weeks, oh thats is so sad, but at least he is alive.
I wish someone could get a pic of the b******* hiting the poor pup with a stick! I hope they rot in jail, in hell!

There is such a thing called Karma. They will eventually get what they deserve. Sending more prayers for Romeo. We have a long weekend up here and I won't be able to check in until next Wednesday (don't have a computer at home) so I'll pray really really hard that I see some good news next week.

I agree with Slick 100%!!!
I would definitely report these bastards. As far as Romeo is concerned, I'd fight returning Romeo with every fiber of my being. This poor cat has been through enough pain and suffering to last a lifetime. He should be placed in a home where they can love and nurture him.
I too hope they rot in hell.

Well folks i wish i had better news , but Romeo is critical, he took a turn for the worse today, it appears he may have a hole in his bladder, they are hoping it will repair itself, but he is very weak, he is in an incubator with an electric blanket, but he does not seem very warm, not a good sign, he is being catherized and has a drip to give him all the fluids he needs, he may need another operation yet they are not sure, the vet said it could go either way in the next two days, so please everyone pray as hard as you can , this little fella needs its.
One thing i must put you straight on Romeo does not belong to the people who have the dog or who ran over him, he is in a very loving home, with owners who adore him, as you can imagine they would not spend over 650 dollars on him if they did not love him .
Also i have sinced learned it was a woman over the road, she heard Romeo but saw him take off and assumed he just got a fright, well i find that hard to believe really, and if it were me i would have gone over and checked, however she was very upset and in tears and rang twice to say how bad she felt about it, and also offered to pay for his treatment, of course we will c if that ever eventuates, about their dog, well i dont know what the real story is there, but i am sure there is some truth in it,
I saw photos of Romeo today, he is a real little sweetie, a tabby kitty, my heart aches just looking at how cute he is, i am hoping with all my heart he makes it,
I was not able to visit him today at the vets, but his owners saw him twice today and said he was looking bad, it was very upsetting for them, and i dont think i could have handled seeing the little guy for the first time like that.
You are all such great people on here, and i know how much you all care, thank everyone, it means a lot to me and Romeos owners too. I will keep you all posted as i hear anything ok.

How awful! There are so many stories like that of people who just have no hearts! How could you not even check if the poor little darling is alright?
I am going to be praying for little Romeo. My Mum's boyfriend's Burmese furrbaby has a message for Romeo:
"Hii Romeeo, my nem is Chakra, and I 2 was hitt by a big scarey car. I now hav just 3 legs, but I am very hapy. I hopes you get better reel soon, and return 2 your loving humans. Lotsa hedbumpies. Chakra."

Thank you both so much for your kind words and prayers, Romeo sure needs them, mary we have been assured he is not in pain, as he is drugged heavily, so we just have to put our faith in the vets and hope they know what they are talking about.
Sorry i tried to get pics today, but we did not have them on floppy disc so could not, but he is very cute, a tabby, he is quite spotted, i sure hope he makes it too. How the poor wee thing dragged himself into the garage with a broken leg and his injuries i will never know but he did, hes a fighter, so we just have to hope and pray.

Thank you all i am so touched by everyones kind words and wishes for the lil guy.
I hate to tell you this but its not good news, today Romeos owner is faced with the hardest decision, she has to decide whether to keep the lil guy alive or not.
He requires further surgery, and he may not survive the operation, or worse when they get in there they may not beable to do anything at all, if he makes it there are no guarantees he will be ok.
She wants to try for the operation and hope he makes it, her husband thinks its unfair to put him through any more and they should let him go.
I dont know what i would do in their situation, she is just so upset, she has been crying all night, i think she will go ahead though, as i write this the decision may have been made, its like 9.45 am here in nz, and they were going to operate at 10.am, the vet is going to pay for half of the new operation, as it now is near the one thousand dollar mark. so thats something.
This is so heart wrenching, i feel so sad today, hes just a baby, its not fair, please please keep those prayers coming, Romeo needs you all so desperately right now.

Well folks he is in surgery right now, his owners decided to try and give him the chance to pull through, and he may well do, its in the hands of god i suppose, so everyone keep praying with all your heart the lil guy makes it.
I will be ringing tonite to find out how he did.
Also the lady who hit him, has sent over a gift pack and prayer for Romeo, so is seems she really is very upset, maybe she did not hear him with her vehicle running, she may have had a radio on, we shall have to give her the benefit of the doubt, at least she does have a conscience and feels so bad about it,so thats something.
And the sweetest thing, catmandu, has sent a special toy all the way over to nz for Romeo to aid his recovery, so the lil guy just has to make it, so we can c him play with it, ash and lexie are also being spoilt with one as well, CATMANDU is such a caring person and i thank him so much.:)

Well folks Romeo has come throught the surgery, he had a rip in his bladder, which has been repaired, they had to drain the pee from his tummy, he also had bad injury to tummy, so now its a wait and c game, have to wait a couple of days to c if he can pee or not, at least he made through, poor wee chap, he must feel like crap, so next few days are crucial, lets hope and pray he is going to be ok this time.

the lady that hit Romeo, she must feel awful, she didn't see him... I would feel SO bad if I had hit a cat! I can understand how cats can dart in front of cars, and not be seen, what a tragic thing to happen.
get well Romeo!

I am so glad to hear that Romeo made it through his surgery. This little fellow really wants to live. He deserves every chance.
I sympathize with the woman who hit him, she seems to be very sorry for what happened. Their vet deserves all our gratitude for helping cover Romeo's surgery. Please let the next news about Romeo be good.

Thanks steffi n, i really hope i can post something positive soon, fingers crossed, yes it appears the lady is very sorry, and that all helps doesnt it, yes i think its great the vet is helping out, its a lot of money for a young newly married couple to fork out, but they love Romeo so much, it does not matter.

Carole,
I do appreciate the update, and I know we are praying really hard for Romeo....
Is it possible for us to send contributions, no matter how slight, to the vet clinic where Romeo is undergoing his Sir Jury? In a case like this, every little bit helps.....so, could you see to it that our contributions could be accepted??? Thanking you in advance,

Once again you are all so sweet and caring on this site, i am sure lil Romeo can feel all those vibes coming his way.
Last i heard he was purring like mad when they visited him, i have no update as yet, its just a wait and c game, and hoping like mad his lil bladder can function normally once again.
I was so touched by your kind offer Cataholic, and i will be passing this all on to Charlene and Nick, Romeos owners, for now i think they will be ok financially, but its always nice to know there is a back-up if things get worse, i thank you so much on behalf of them. will keep you posted as soon as i hear anything ok:)

Romeo is still hanging on in there, he is struggling though, he was heavily drugged yesterday when his owners visited so hes not very responsive, i guess they are making sure he is not in pain, so its still touch and go, so keep praying your hardest, this little guy deserves to make it after everything hes been through, found out it was not the neighbour who hit him, but a lady who works for them, she has been really good and feels really awful about it all.
