I don't know about the rest of you, but this makes me MAD .   I am not a Medical Doctor, but I am wondering what possible bearing the torture of cats and other small animals can have on research pertaining to humans?
I found this article on PETA's website - they want to kill 360 cats over the next four years to assist in their research!!
"Palmer Chiropractic Seeks $500,000 Grant to Kill More Cats
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Palmer has spent years subjecting animals to cruel, repetitive, invasive, and deadly spinal experiments (e.g., rabbits and mice in 1986, 1987, and 1988). Palmer’s federal grant applications recently obtained by PETA, shows that between 2001 and 2003, Palmer will have killed approximately 240 cats in experiments designed to defend, according to Palmer’s president, “a profession that has been under attack for its 107-year history.” During this same time period (2001-2003), Palmer will have cut into and killed approximately 120 rats in similarly useless spinal experiments. The cost of these experiments is $283,805 and $305,930, respectively. As if the wasting of these precious animal lives and research dollars weren’t enough, Palmer hopes to receive from the National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) $500,000 to kill approximately 360 cats over the next four years.
Whether Palmer wants to appease its critics in the medical establishment (something that will never happen), procure federal grants with which to build new laboratories, or “measure the physiological effects of spinal manipulation,” it should do so without torturing and killing animals. Of course, the only way Palmer will do this is if NCCAM stops paying for cruel and useless animal experiments and, instead, demands humane, effective, and scientifically valid studies on human patients.
Please write to Palmer to demand an end to its cruel and useless animal experiments:
