I used to give Kito mackerel once in a while to keep his coat shiny (the people we got him from told us to)--it was so pretty!!!
I can't stand the smell--and he can't eat the whole can, so I need something else. What can I give him to shine up his coat a little bit?? He eats Nutro--I forget at the moment exactly which kind it is (green bag)--maybe I should get him one that is especially for skin and coat???

I heard that adding a bit of oil to their food helps...I'm not sure about that though I've never tried.

I also use Nutro! I add a teaspoon of Canola Oil to their food, it makes their coat shiny and is supposed to be good for their skin:)

Well, I use TropiClean Shampoo, and right after you give her a bath, her coat is really shiny, I just love the way it shines!

For olis to add, I use Drs. Foster & Smith's Vitocoat Plus!

:) ;) It smells awful, but they must like it, it's bacon flavor, that's what it says!

A good diet (I feed nutro natural large breed) & practice good grooming habits & it keeps my dogs coats shinny.
You can add extar omega oils (liperderm i think) is a good suplement or canolla or safflower oil too, just add a very little. Only bathe when needed otherwise it stips the natural oils from the coat.

I give our dogs 3V caps which are available from our vet, or from Drs. Foster and Smith. It really has made a difference in their coats :)

Sadie and Cincy have such beautful shiny coats using the 3 V tabs that we got them for our dogs too. It not only makes Snoopy's coat so shiny but makes it so soft. When we first got him, his white looked kind of dirty and now it is like snow white.

The other's coats are different types so the shininess doesn't show so much but the softness sure does. Plus it seems to help Jack with his skin allergy.

My parents like to give the dogs a little bit of egg (cooked) each week, they claim that it helps their coat.
