Mickey was lying by my feet at the computer just know and my sister found a chunk of his fur lying by him. I know shelties blow their coat but how much actually comes out. This might be a stupid question but I'm freaking out. It's just about 20 hairs all straight and by eachother...?? Any ideas?

If it's a soft, fuzzy (usually lighter colored) type fur, it's most likely undercoat, which is fur they shed. I've pulled large chunks of out of Nebo many times, but they don't normally just fall out on their own that big lol.

It sounds like his spring shedding..all dogs are different..so don't worry too much.

Kito does that too. In the fall when he started, I could literally pull chunks of fur off of him, and he didn't care--I was worried too!!!

It was weird though, cause it just didn't get pulle dout. We just found some. Like it flew off while he was running or something...:confused:

Same thing with Tucker, clumps of hair just appear in all sorts of locations.

Has anyone's dog NOT shed yet? LOL Kai still has his full coat...and I feel sorry for him cuz it's getting pretty hot here so I end up hosing him down a bit.

Mickey hasn't. Since that last piece of hair, I haven't found anything else. Weird...? :confused:

We find big chunks of Kito's hair too, like it just fell out. He's still not shedding really bad, but I'm sure in time he will be--I can almost make another Shiba when I brush him, but not quite yet!!!

Unless I brush Jake daily while he's blowing his coat, he leaves soft, fluffy little fur clusters all over the house! I wouldn't worry about that at all. It's amazing how much fur can come off one little doggie! Before I started brushing Jake daily, I'd just brush him when he looked like he really needed it - I'd stuff a grocery bag full of hair each time! That's shelties for ya.
