Don't Wash Before Supper

I just read this in my daily calendar:

Newborn kittens will continue to feed at the same nipple at which they first fed. In most cases, there is no sibling rivalry for a place at the table, since each nipple has a unique smell!

NOTE: Washing a mother cat's belly can produce some family squabbling.

I had heard about this on a show on Animal Planet but I didn't know that if you washed the mother then it could cause family squabbling.
