Hi everyone. :) The past few days I've noticed that Storm has been chasing Cirrus around the house and it's not the kind of play chase if you know what I mean. Cirrus will start hissing and his ears will go back because Storm is persistantly bugging him. Storm has also chased him off of my bed and the cat napper. Since Storm is the alpha cat, do you think that he's just trying to put Cirrus in his place or is it a jealousy thing? I know that Storm can get very jealous at times and that's why I sometimes call him Jelly Face. Do you think that I'm overeacting to this kind of behavior? Since Sunny and Cirrus have been getting along and playing a lot, do you think that Storm could be jealous of this bond? Thanks for your replys in advance. :)

If I had to guess... I would say you are probably right on both accounts... Seems like Storm is probably just trying to keep his alpha cat status... espically if he is sencing (sp?) you and Cirrus bonding closer.

Tigris sometimes chases Filou in a very aggressive way. Like yesterday evening. He is very frustrated these days, looks at me and meows and then he attacks Filou -out of nothing and not playful. Kind of spring fever I think.

I try to give him more attention and to play with him. It's not so easy to get Tigris to play as he prefers to look at me and to enjoy how nicely I am throwing this mousie or how easily I juggle the featherstick. And if he catches a mousie or the featherstick then he starts to just tear it up. But if I get him to run then you see that he just needs to be more active. (It's like young men playing basketball instead of beating others up ;))

(BTW this aggressive youngster can be the cuddliest of all the love bugs :) )

My roommates cat is VERY aggressive towards Corkscrew, she makes it clear that she doesn't like Tibby but she isn't as aggresive. I think it's because Tibby is so much younger and smaller that Corkscrew and Sasha (my roommates cat). It's been way over a year and things haven't gotten better. While at first my roommate and I were so scared by it now we've learned to ignore it. If it starts to get too ugly we spray them with the squirt gun.

Wow, it makes me wonder if I will ever be able to leave doors opened in my house. Right now Ti and Miley are still being ignorant to each other. Both are loving little cats but hate each other. I just wonder what Juni Rose will do to the mix? Oh my. Fasten your seatbelts! It might get ugly.

:p   :p

Maybe Storm saw that X Men 2 is coming out in the movie theatre and now thinks he's a big deal because he is mentioned in the movie!

:p

Sorry, I'm in a weird mood today! I'm sure it's the alpha thing but also the spring weather!

Bodhi and Maya are not being cuddlebugs either these days. Could be that spring thing or a full moon or El Nino....who knows. May peace come to all real soon.

Yes, I agree with Sara. I think Storm is probably acting out on both accounts: to make sure Cirrus knows who's alfa, and probably a little bit of jealousy too.

My Marius does this a lot with Scooter too. Scooter can be minding his own business laying in the cat bed, and Marius will go right over there and shoo him out; or he might be laying on the couch, or on the windowsill (where there's enough room for them both) but Marius will intercede and push him out. How rude! LOL  Aaron gets really mad when he does that, but I just tell him that's how the pecking order is. There's really nothing we can do about it. Be sure to give Storm some extra lovins if he's feeling a bit jealous, and praise him when he's being nice to the others. :) Silly kitties. I sure hope things improve though!

I think we take it way more personally than the cats do. My Joxer is the bottom cat. The others will play with him, but if they decide that they want to sit where he is sitting, they make him move. He is occasionally hissed at and nipped at, and he just doesn't care. He's a lover, not a fighter, and he doesn't feel like fighting back - he'd rather just leave the room.

He is also my one lap kitty and is the one that sleeps with us at night.

Here's another Storm update: This afternoon Storm began chasing Cirrus again and he chased him under the coffee table. Cirrus began hissing and growling at Storm. I had to pick up Storm and move him so Cirrus could calm down. This seemed to work and Storm finally left him alone. I just wish he'd stop doing this. I'm not too worried because I know that Cirrus can fight back if he wants to but I also don't want either cat to become hurt.

Sunny and Cirrus have become very good friends now and they'll play, wash each others heads, and even give each other headbumpies. It's so cute to see this. I guess I should be thankful that Cirrus doesn't want to try to be the alpha cat of the household because then I'd really have problems. There's never a dull moment when you have cats.
