There is no best breed. Some suit some people better than others and some are partial to some breeds.
There is no best breed, although I prefer mutts or Shelties. But like I said, that is my opinion and may not go with everyone. I did not make a vote out to any dog.

I personally love labs & goldens...their traits just seem to suit me I guess. But I agree with Primabella that there is no "best"breed. Just some breeds suit some people more than others. ;)
Yea I agree w/primabella. Some may not see themselves w/border collies...while others may think that's the best suited breed for them. My personal favourite is the sheltie and border collie though...but that's just cuz it fits my lifestyle.

Personally my favourite breeds are catahoula leopard dogs and german shepherd dogs. Brave, versitile guard dogs are my favourite. I love beautiful dogs that intimidate people. It's fun lol:p

I also don't think there is a Best dog breed. If you are talking about favorite dog breed then my choice wouldnt be up there!
I think that usually your favorite breed is the breed you have. I know that that is true with me. My favorite breed of dog was the same even before we got Sally.
I voted German Shepard!:D

My personal favourite breed is the Sheltie and that doesn't mean that that's the best breed.

The breed best for me is the MUTT!
But there isn't the best breed, only what's best for you.

I agree, although I prefer NSDTRetrievers. I also did not vote.

I voted Rottweiler, but that is definately not the best breed for everyone. Just all depends on your preference & lifestyle:)

I don't think there is a best breed. Each breed is suited for different people. Personally, for me....I like pittys. :) I like their energy, short, non-shedding coat and their wiggle butts. :D And I really like mutts.

a dobes natural tail is kind of "ratty" looking
what is the typical size for a Pit?
Cheshirekatt

Pittys are supposed to be between 40-50 lbs. The trend lately has been to breed so-called "giant" pittys that range from 70-90 lbs. Personally, I don't agree with this. I think a 40 lb pitty is plenty enough to handle and being smaller keeps them healthier, too.
I hear what you say about the whole rat tail thing. We have a boxer/pitty mix and he's kinda got a rat tail! It doubles as a good club, too. LOL

CKatt, how do they get them to "breed" that much bigger?
A dobe typically weighs up to 85 pounds or so...
However, my boys aren't quite 85 pounds...
Callihan, an 8 year old male, has been on adult weight loss food for about the last 6 months. He, like me, has gained a few pounds since his "diet". He weighs in at 120 pounds.
Mitchell, the 9 month old "puppy" weighs in at 90 pounds.
These boys eat Iams and only 2x's a day!
I swear people!
maybe the picture explains it???

Typically they will keep inbreeding them to the biggest dogs in the litters. Also, some have been known to throw a mastiff in there to make them bigger. Some people......
