I have a BIG wiemaraner who has some BIG lipomas on him that seems to be affecting his breathing. He is a rescued dog that weighed 110 lbs when i got him a year ago and we've worked hard to diet and loose (he's about 90 now!) but the lipomas seem to be getting bigger and more pronounced. Yes, we are going to the vet but i'd like to send out a quick flag and see if anyone has heard anything more on lipomas or if its still the same - removal, but they will come back or removal and radiation - still may come back? also, has anyone heard of any holistic approaches? we are in the santa cruz CA area if anyone knows of a holistic vet....

thanks so much!

The lipomas probably look even bigger because he's lost weight!

Usually lipomas are harmless, but since it's affecting his breathing it sounds like it's time to have them removed. They can come back if you don't get all the cells out - and sometimes it's hard to get them all. But I don't know about radiation . . . it seems to me that it would be worth trying to just remove the lipoma that's affecting the breathing, and then see if it returns. If it doesn't return or grows back very slowly then maybe your dog won't have to undergo radiation.

Good luck!
