Okay what does this girl look like she's mixed with? A shelter asked me if I could post her on my website for them. A GSD mix but with what? I almost see Greyhound in her head....

She's very big with feathering on her legs.

With the long hair, I'd say Golden Retriever. :)
I think Greyhound would also be my best guess.

I would say Shep/Collie, or some European Breed that I can't
remember the name of right now. First pic, her snout
looks longish, sort of like a collie, second pic looks more like
long haired Shepherd. She IS beautiful.:)

I thought of a collie right away when I saw the pic--she is beautiful!!

I also think she looks like she has afghan in her.

What beautiful eyes - are they yellow?? What a cutie

In the first pic the markings around her eyes remind me of a husky...the colors of a shepard, and the sort of long nose and longer fur like a collie.........so maybe shep/husky/collie....?? Don't know, but she sure is beautiful!!

Delidog,
This beauty is at the Otsego County Animal Control in Gaylord, Michigan.
On Petfinder at : http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=1571315&adTarget=468dogadult&SessionID=3e9ac6f228d778f0-app3&display=&preview=1&row=150
She reminds me a bit of Draker, but different in her own unique way too. I agree with everyone---- she is just lovely!

I thought she looked like Drake too,
Now I don't really see much greyhound in her. Maybe afghan b/c of the long hair. But I definately agree with the Collie/GSD mix.

Yep she was in the Otsego, MI animal control but she's safely in foster now.
If anyone's interested: She is 2 years old, spayed and UTD on shots. Gets along great with the foster mom's cat and Dobermans (she has 3).
She is very sweet and gentle but will need some basic obediance. Nancy says she's very big and tall!
You can email or PM me if you'd like the contact email :) .

Here's a pic of a GSD/Afghan mix that I had at the rescue this year (ignore the hubby's hairy legs :p) .

Dakota was a very tall drink of water.
He was hilarious. He had the ball drive of a GSD but the brains of an Afghan. You'd throw a ball...he would run the other way and hit the wall. I was sort of sorry to see him get adopted :D .

She is GORGEOUS! And I do see some resemblance to my own Draker. I would say Collie/Shep as well.

Why does it matter????
People often come in to the grooming shop and say they have an X/Y cross, and it looks nothing like that. So, do they know this for a fact (saw the mom and the dad) or did someone at a shelter just put that idea into their head?
If you like the dog then you should STILL like the dog even if you do not know its heritage.

Actually Jen, it doesn't matter a whit. It's just fun to guess.:D

Although I too, like to guess, people will adopt according to what they read, and I am not sure that is a good thing.

When you post a dog you have to put something in the breed area or Petfinder won't let you post it. She obviously has GSD in her and as long as people are aware of that, that's all I care about. I put her as a GSD/Collie because that's what I see most in the pic. I haven't met her in person but I do know she's 75 lbs and 26 inches at the shoulder.
People will either fall in love with her or not and if they're looking at pets in Petfinder they have to realize alot of it is a guess, especially the pound dogs!

Jen,
I really meant it really doesn't matter to the people who are
attracted to the look of the dog & go visit him/her in person.
A shelter or Humane Society will ALWAYS give a mix breed dog
their best guess on heritage. And as NWS_Haven says, Pet Finder
does need to list a breed, whether pure or mixed. People who
adopt are ALWAYS given a best guess when the breed combo
is not known for sure.
afghan/shep mix looks close to about the same thing as yer pic.
