took Callie to the vet the other day for her allergies, and also because she has been peeing on the carpet... the vet gave us some ideas for her about the peeing but also took a urine sample... and called yesterday, said Callie has blood in her urine, not visable blood but abnormal amounts of red blood cells. they think maybe she has stones, and are going to do a radio-graph, have to bring her in next wed early morning, and she can't have anything to eat before...

Im kind of worried about this, has anyone else had this happen to their cats? is it serious?

My RB cat Thumper had bladder stones. It caused him to have inappropriate peeing, as well. He had an operation to have them removed. He came through just fine and lived to be 14. He did need to be on presciption food for his whole life, though. (Now ALL my cats eat this food)

Try not to worry, I'm sure Callie will be fine! Good wishes and prayers for her!

thanks Jen and Kim! I will just wait and see what happens.

Im wondering how long she could have had this condition (another question for the vet next time I talk to her)
Im really irritated that callie's previous owner, didnt bother to find out what caused her litter box problems, just gave her away! and also had her declawed and let her outside!!

I got callie from the humane society, and I saw the note said she had litter box problmes, but got her anyway I didnt want her to be put to sleep. and til a few weeks ago (got her last Oct) she never had a problem. so we tried adding another litterbox, still does it.

I will post an update when I know more.

I'm sure kitties with that kind of note are very seldom adopted too - like the Felv + ones. It's so sad because as you're finding out, there is usually some reason for the litterbox problems, and I really believe that most of them are health related.

Good luck with Callie, and thanks for taking a chance on her. :)

Poor cat! I'm glad you saved her and showed her that all humans are not pathetic!

Good for you! I hope everything goes well at the vets!

How's Callie doing today, Mary?

she was sleeping today, and suddenly sat up and kept meowing... one meow right after the other, my mom says she does that sometimes, not alot. I don't know if she had a nightmare or if she was in some kind of pain. other than that she seems fine.

we take her to the vet wed. morning.

Callie could not have the test done today because of her 2 stupid humans! she was not suposed to eat anything, and my mother forgot to put the food dish away, and I forgot to remind her!
(hello? is my brain working?)

so now we have the test re-scheduled for next Monday! that poor cat had to go there, into her cage, for nothing! and they kept her 2 hours before they called us and told us. why didnt they tell us at the time!? they asked when we got there, and we told them we forgot... but they took her anyway, kept her 2 hrs then called us to come pick her up.
poor Callie:(

It's easy to forget sometimes, especially when they look at you with those 'feed me' eyes. I hope everything goes well on Monday.

If I have to fast one of my cats, I always right it down on my calendar so I'll remember. Before Sunny had his teeth cleaned, my vets office did call and leave me a message to remind me to fast him. I think that the vets should try to call their clients more often to remind them of things like this. Mary, I'm sorry that Callie had to stay at the vets for 2 hours without anything being done. Good luck on Monday.
