Alabama
Dog
German Shepherd Dog

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Sex: Female
I.D:

Notes: Hi, my name is Alabama, and I'm yet another of the dogs who really got a lucky break in ending up safe and sound here at Southside. I was found with serious injuries after being hit by a car. The nice lady here saw the sweetness and intelligence in my soft brown eyes, and just HAD to try whatever possible to save me and give me a second chance. I have spent weeks in recovery at the vet, and now (other than needing to get some "meat" on my bones)I am ready to cash in on that last lucky break and become somebody's new best friend! My breed is intelligent and learns quickly, so anything I might have forgotten along the way (they'll never know how I ended up on my own) will be a cinch for me to pick up on again! Please come meet me and let me show you what a sweet, gentle girl I am. My heart is yours for a good meal, a soft voice, and a pat on the head. Please make my dreams come true. Love, Alabama

This pet is: up to date with routine shots, altered

Gosh Alabama is gorgeous! GSDs are my very favorite large breed dog. I don't think she will have a hard time finding a forever home and getting a little meat back on her pretty bones. Paws all crossed here for Alabama!

Well , I found out Monday that Alabama is back at the Shelter.:(

Couldn't believe it when I saw the ADOPTED taken off her picture
on the Pet Finder site. I called the Shelter and found out that
her new family brought her back & said she was not house
broken. Alabama had been with a foster family for two months
re-cooping from her surgery & the foster mom said she never
had a problem with her at all. Rosie(Southside Animal
Shelter) thinks Alabama wasn't really given a chance to settle in
to yet another new place. I have an appt. at 4pm tomorrow to
visit with Alabama & two other dogs that I've been wanting to
check out as well. I think Smokey would like a friend.:D

Molly,

I also asked about seeing Chips, Roscoe and Shapiro. I have
a real soft spot for Shapiro & her story of being found around
Shapiro's Deli. Smokey seems to like other dogs & cats he's met
so far, so I'm hoping for a compatiable match either male or
female.I have to keep telling myself, Alabama is not Buddy & I
shouldn't expect her to be like him. Well, we'll see. Liz.

Alabama is not Buddy. You will see that when you meet her. She will have her own personality. No one will ever meet Buddy's standards. He is your heart-dog. Alabama (or whoever) will find their own place in your heart. You'll see. Neither Killian or Shiloh are Wolf (my heart-dog), but I still love them with all my heart.

Good luck to you and Smokey. I'll be anxiously awaiting the news.

Hi, I'm back. Didn't find out till I got there that Alabama was
adopted yesterday morning. I was disappointed, but glad for
this dog. Hopefully these folks will give her more than a week
to settle in & get to know them. I went straight from work so
didn't bring Smokey, but had a chance to meet some of the
many other female dogs there. There are a few possible dogs
that I'd like Smokey to meet so I'm taking him down to the
Shelter this Saturday when we can spend some time with intros.

There is one Gorgeous dog named Monty(Belgian Shepherd
Malinois) whose picture on pet finder doesn't do him justice.
He is, in form & presence, a "to die for" GSD with beautiful
black fur & sweet dark eyes. :) I called about the Shep/mix dog
named Shapiro & believe it or not, the lady said she was to be
soon adopted by a lovely family. She had already done a 2nd
home visit to check things out with these folks before letting
Shapiro go to this forever family.:) I gave her my name & Num.
(just in case). I'm really not in any hurry about this, so I'll keep
checking around.
