View Full Version : Playful Milly...Poking George again

George & Milly seem to partly get on but she will insist poking him whever he tries to sleep. Although she plays with me & Steve, she is more interested in bothering sleeping George.

Milly spends a good portion of the day jumping on him, poking him and then running away. We try to head her off as much as we can, but I don't think he sleeps at all, when we are out of the house.

How can we discourage this bothering, or will she simply grow out of it ?

We thought she might calm down a bit as she gets older and can play outside with local cats (She 's just 9 months old) or alturnatively we are 1/2 thinking of adopting a third cat which is older than her but will still play with her but younger than George.

But I think we'll end up with two cats bothering George !!!

HA HA HA
She's the pesty little sister. And a 3rd cat that likes to play (that's the important part, try to find one who likes to play), may occupy her so she doesn't feel the need to pest George ALL the time.

Mmmm...rubs chin.. Jen.. encouraging others to get another cat ? Isn't that unexpected

I'm just concerned that a third cat will be too much for George and he might just leave home (Well, not really he's too lazy to move far)

Watch this space ?

I agree with Jen about a third cat, younger and someone to play with......that is what I hope happens at my house.

Kittens can be a real mess to deal with, especially when they are in their active mode! (24 hours a day)...

Keep us posted and let us know when you get your third kitty!

Well, what do you expect, you asked on a cat board whether you should get another cat or not? ;) :D

I have to agree that a third cat would probably do the trick. I don't think it will bother George at all because the two younger ones will probably bond and leave George alone. Then George might get jealous and start joining in now and then, but if he's like Tubby, he'll just sleep most of the day while the other two are having a ball. ;) :)

It does sound like Milly just wants to play, and that's why she's pestering George. She will probably settle down as she gets older. Another alternative to getting another cat - but not a good one in my opinion ;) - is to play with her yourself. Throw the mousie or whatever she likes to play with. This may tire her out a bit so when you're not home she is more apt to sleep and leave poor Georgie alone. Doesn't she know he needs his beauty sleep? (or that's what Tubby tells me anyway  )

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Can't wait to see pics of the new kitty. :D

....so true

We're leaning towards another cat. I currently play with Milly for hours (I'm out of work at the moment, hence I'm home all day)
and she still bugs George.

I don't think George would care about another cat, as long as he got cuddles (of course) and could get some sleep !!!

But we thought of getting 1 cat, 6 months ago, I can't believe we are even considering a third. This could get very silly in our 2 bed house..:D

ROTFLMAO

Now.....give me some credit.....I don't only encourage people to get a third cat.......................

I'd encourage people to get a 15th cat.:D After all......what's one more?!?

Besides, everyone has to have a purpose in life, mine is to get people to catch up to me!:p

Oh. Just for the record, I had 6 cats in a 1 bedroom apartment. (actually it was only 4 rooms and that included the bathroom)

I just showed this thread to my partner.

He just sighed and said, 'I take it we are looking for another cat.'

To be honest. I think he is a very cat loving person.

He murmured about George, encouraged me to adopt Milly and mentions a possible third kitty !!!

He's the best.

It was my suggestion we get a third cat.

I don't know what came over me.

Hello.... You wouldn't be George and Millie's daddy, would you?
Can't wait to meet your soon-to-be new addition.;) :D

Indeed I am, hello :D

I suspect we'll be getting a bigger house soon, PayItForward keeps eyeing up these huge cat treehouse things. She thinks it'll give Milly something to play on rather than, what I suspect, somewhere new to pounce on George from.

At least we've managed to sort out some feeding arrangements...

Not quite sure what we'll do with 3 though.

that is too cute!!! What is on top of Millie's station? maybe #3 can go there...hee hee.
Well, I have 13, and I manage, so my guess is you will think of something.;)

And cats LOVE their own cat trees!!!

The kitchen worksurface is on top of Milly's bit and I'm trying to discourage little paws up there.

But I don't want to wait until we move, to get another cat, cos our George will be all pounced out and that might be years before we can find one. EDIT House not cat

GOOD NEWS
I woke this morning to find Milly pouncing on my toes and George asleep on my head. (He must have forgiven me bringing Milly in the house, as he hasn't slept on my head since Milly has been in the house):D

PS. My dearest WILL be allowing a cat tree in the house, I think they will keep Milly occupied.
