I'm a little puzzed:confused:

The last couple of days Roxey has been licking her right rear paw. Not all the time, but more than usual.
She was laying on her back sleeping yesterday & Huney came over & started licking her paw too. I made her stop & she just started smelling & licking the floor.
I started to look at Roxey's paw and soon as I tried to move the fur around to get a better look she jumped up. I don't *think* it hurts, but it does seem sensitive. She definately don't want me rubbing around on it, but she doesn't limp or seem to favor her left foot at all.
Do you think this is anything I should be worried about?

Its hard to say if she does not favor it. I give my dogs a 3 day rule (unless it is obviously an emergency). If whatever it is is still bothersome after 3 days I would get it looked at. If possible try to make her let you look more closely at the foot. It could be many things like a sore, cut, thorn, sprain, hurt nail, allergies or boredom. I hope she is better!

Hi Anna!

On a hiking trip, Murph started obsessively licking at one of his
paws, which he doesn't normally do. We'd been hiking all day and
I didn't notice him limping or favoring it, but when we stopped for
the day he was noticably licking it. I looked at it and didn't see
anything wrong, but he continued. So I looked closer, spreading
his pads apart to see down inside his paw. And low and behold
he had a sticker burr wedged inside. Don't know how on earth
he'd been walking with that inside and not showing any outward
signs of it. I guess typical behavior for a terrier. Anywho, I had
to get tweezers to remove it, it was so deep down, but he's real
good about letting me do whatever needs to be done to him.

Also, if Maddie has any health problems, Murph will lick her
whereever the problem is. Since Huney's licking on it too, if
Roxey keeps licking on it and won't let you look at it, I'd take her
to the vet.

Thanks Par & lv4dogs

I didn't see her lick at all yesterday or any so far today. So maybe whatever it was worked it's way out:)

Glad Roxey is better. I think if she start licking her paw again it might be a good idea to take her/him the vet just for a check up.

Our terrier also got a bur stuck between the pads on her feet and she was licking her foot alot too. Wait a couple days like they said and see what happens.

Owen licks his feet a lot. The vet said he was probably developing an allergy to grass. It's most noticable in spring. Another time he licks a lot is when he gets tree sap between his pads. We have several pine like trees (ok, so I'm clueless about trees ) and they drip sap a lot, in Owen's... ummm... restroom area.

Paw and leg licking can be a sign of anal problems, so be careful! (I don't know what they have to do with eachother lol)
