a few months ago, after adopting clive the stray, i posted a request for information regarding preferred scratching posts. you guys gave me lots of great advice. I bought a few choices, slathered them in catnip, encouraged. and with the exception of the cardboard box one, he ignored them all. well! he has found his own solution! about a month ago, i was moving things around in the spare room and put an old dart board on the floor. got sidetracked and forgot to put it back in the closet. late that night i heard the strangest sound... and lo and behold clive was going to town on the dart board. so i left it there. NIGHTLY now, clive goes in, has a nice scratch, and then comes back for bed. Impressively the dart board is holding together pretty well!
just thought i'd share.
I finally had some photos of him developed, ill scan them in soon. he's sooooo beautiful.:D

Isn't that always the way?? You spend big bucks on what you think you cat will like only to find out that you already had what he wanted??? Same thing with toys. You can spend $20.00 on toys when all they want to play with is a piece of tin foil! Go figure. Waiting for pics :D

ha ha, isn't that just hilarious?!!!
We have 3 scratching posts here, and yet Inka's favorite place to sharpen her pretty nails is a blue leather chair    ! We hung a towel over it now, but she is very persisting... ! Oh that rascal:eek: :D :D

If you want to save that chair there is some stuff called Sticky Paws that works great. It is like 2 sided sticky tape and is invisible till enough cat hair is stuck in it then you just need to peel and replace. But I too have a recliner that is becoming rather ratty looking. Sticky Paws however saved my floral sofa. *L*

yes, in reality clives favorite is the green chair, but i've been spraying it with boundary (less and less, fortunately)... and used the sticky tape.
but yes, the dart board makes a great substitute.
the sound is a little disconcerting, but i can live with it!
