I found Kai gasping for air a few times in the past few days. We're taking him to the vet today...hope he's all right... has this every happened to someone? I was afraid he had chocolate at first..because we found some chocolate on the floor...and I thought that maybe he ate some. He seems to gasp lightly for about 20 seconds or so...a few times a day..and he vomited his meal right back up yesterday..

Does his gasp sound a little like a snort? We had a thread about that recently and I think it was called 'reversed sneezing.' I know all of the dogs that I have ever had have done it at one time or another but I don't know the cause. I never had it appear at the same time as vomiting, though, so it is very wise to check with your vet. Please keep us updated and I hope Kai will be fine. :)

I was also wondering about the "reverse sneezing" that Pam mentioned. Reggie has done that a few times, and it really freaked me out!

How's Kai doing????:confused: Sounds like it could be reverse sneezing. Is he acting short of breath (labored) or is it more of a gasping/choking type sound?? I hope the Dr. had some answers....:( Get well, sweetie, please.

Sorry haven't been able to get online for a while...
Kai is fine, the vet said he has reversed sneeze syndrom:) :D :p :cool:

Phew.............!!:) The first time my Cody had that, I rushed her to the ER in the middle of the night! I thought she was choking. SO glad to hear Kai's A-OK!!! And looking cuter than ever!:D

I don't think I have ever experienced a reverse sneeze, but it sure sounds scary!

Hi there Kai, glad to hear that all is well with your dear doggie.
However, I can't help wondering what is reverse sneezing?
What did the vet say? I also wonder if cats can do that?

Just wondering over here in Montreal, where it is snowing "Yet one more time" here today!

Malone did some of that reverse sneezing the other day. It really scared me! I wasn't sure if he was gonna puke or what!?!? After a few times of him doing it, I figured it out though.

Glad Kai is gonna be OK, and that it's nothing serious. Sorry he gave you a scare though!! :eek:!!

Songlover--I don't have much of an idea on what it is...The vet said something about allergies...that could be it because we just moved into my grandma's house..which is old..and dusty..etc...so it is probably allergies..his attacks have been getting better too =]
