to have the kitties nails trimmed...Yes, but they showed me how to do and even gave me a pair of clippers for free....MY poor Rocky boy just gets so upset when he gets messed with, and they had to muzzle him because he was putting up a fight big time:( It made me cry a little...but I did get to clip Fluffys nails...the nurse just held her while I did it and told me what to do..It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.....do any of you get all emotional when you take your babies in? I mean, he wasnt in pain, but I just feel for him I guess...I hate seeing him so upset....

Well, I do Max's nails myself (thanks to the burrito wrap) and Speckles came to me declawed. So I guess I have an easier time with it. When I first got Max it took 2 wks before I could even pet him so it was about 3 months before I even attempted the nails. But once you do it you will get the hang of it. Just be as quick as you can. I do Max's front ones, then let him have a break for a while then pick him up and do the back ones. He has a short attention span and if I attempt all 4 paws he gets very annoyed and tries to bite.
Hang in there. Before you know you will be able to do it with your eyes closed. And I know what you mean about getting all emotional. When I took Max in for his teeth surgery I cried all the way home :( But he was just fine.
I am doing Maya's and Inka's myself too! But oh oh, what a war that is every time!! inka is so mad then:eek:  ! I think I'd better put on garden gloves next time:rolleyes:  :D

The vet nurse at my local vet's refuses to clip bastet's nails after she was badly lacerated by her the last time I took her there. The vet suggested food treats each nail i clip and gradually decrease the amount of treats given. So far I can clip two claws before the rest come out or she bites and lashes out. Bastet is at least getting better. Treats and rewards are such wonderful things :D

We have people that bring their pet in for a hair cut that get all emotional. And that is only a bath and a hair cut. So don't feel that you are the only one, some people just can't stand the thought of their pet going through any thing they may not like.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! when I have taken the cats to the groomers to have their claws trimmed, or when I do the trimming myself, it's always a big deal, some are worse than others! Louise panicks, and is so scared I think she's going to have a heart attack! I feel so bad for her, I am not sure if it's easier on her to have me trim them or the groomers...
and poor Charlie, the first time i took him to have his bottom area shaved(he's longhair and the litter was sticking to his fur there) and I had to leave him I wanted to cry! when I take Louise to the vets or groomers she meows the whole time on the way! and there is no way to make them understand, unfortunatly I can't take them out for ice cream after!
