Seems little Kim has a bit of cystitis, and as we all know, the vet says "Encourage her to drink more water!!!!":eek: What do they expect???Me to say,"here little Kim. drink your water now....come on, drink." ???
SO, we might need re-enforcements.

BTW, she is up to 6 pounds. (I doubt it) ;)

Jen, what I did in the past was to take some canned food and put lots of water in/on it and the kitty in need of H2O would drink all the liquid just to get to the food! This may or may not be something you would want to try.

Who said that drinking could be habit forming?

:rolleyes: :cool: ;)

Oh dear ... I hope little Kim gets to feeling better soon! Did the vet give her an antibiotic to clear it up?

Yes. She got a steroid shot (I believe, to get her to drink more--I did not take her to vet, husband did) and an antibiotic shot and liquid antibiotics to give her at home. She is feeling quite normal, she just tries to use the litter box all the time, with little luck.

Ouch, Little Kim, drink up! I agree with phred, little tuna juice with lots of water is pretty tasty to my herd. Maybe a little skim milk and water, too? Good luck Kim!

Those shots musta done her some good, she actually left a little puddle in the box, just now. (since Fri a.m. it's only been drops).

We'll be trying the tuna juice tomorrow.:D

Come on Kimmy, drink as much as you can, then your visits to the litter-box will be worth it!!

cystitis=bladder infection.

Kim will be fine. She is really acting normal (actually, she always was, it was just that litter box visits that worried me). She seems to be able to "pee" more than just drops, andI see her drinking. So don't worry, she' good to go.

Jen, I'm so sorry to hear this. :( When Pepper had diarrhea from his antibiotics my vet recommended that I give him some preservative free yogurt. You also need to let it sit out at room temperature for about 5 hours or so to let bacteria grow. It really seemed to help him. Good luck. All fingers and paws are crossed here.

Oh, poor Little Kim, sometimes antibiotics are too strong for delicate little systems. Hope she is better soon.

Oh poor little Kim.
Around here you can buy cat milk (from Whiskas and other suppliers). Some cats are really crazy about the stuff. F+T don't care too much but it could help with the drinking.

If your cat doesn't like yogurt ask your vet about Acidophilus supplements. That's the bacteria in yogurt that does the good stuff.

that's a good thing to know. Kim loves it but when Amber needed it, she wouldn't touch the stuff.
