last night, i had my little cousins over for a visit. it was almost 10 when mickey went to sleep (he usually sleeps at 8) so he lay down and slept. my brother and my cousin decided to play (i don't even know what game) and obviously started making noise. mickey gets woken up easily, so he jumped up and ran to the noise. my brother, thinking he was asleep, didn't notice him and tripped over him. he landed right on mickey. i had never heard mickey cry so loudly or sound so much in pain! i was terrified. my mom picked him up and he stopped crying. she held him for awhile but he was shaking. we put him down after to see if he could walk. his front paws were alright but he couldn't walk with the two back legs. my mom made him lie down on his bed and she checked out his leg. there was no bruise or anything. nothing looked swollen and he didn't cry when she touched it. she massaged it a bit and then we tried to see if he could walk again. he was limping really bad. my mom did the same thing about three more times and he kept limping. i was getting really worried, but he seemed to be getting better. he would keep his leg tightened but as she massaged it more, it loosened a bit more each time. my dad decided to get him excited so see if he would follow, and he did. he walked a few steps but started limping again and turned back to his bed. i felt so bad for him. but because it seemed to be getting better, we decided to wait until tomorrow (and see if he was worse) to call a vet or hospital. mickey just slept. we all watched him and were all scared. at around midnight, we took him out to "potty". on his way back in, my brother ran into the living room as if it were a game and mickey followed. he was running normally again. i was so happy and relieved! this morning, i was woken up by mickey who was licking my face. i asked my mom how he was and she said he was himself again but still limps slightly. i think that's normal. i'm so happy! :D
we think its best to let us bring him up and down the stairs for awhile and to avoid running games for awhile. we also have to be more careful with the way we pick him up. my brother apologized a million times and says he'll learn. ( i hope so...)
we'll keep an eye on him but i'm sure he's okay. this experience was actually good (in a way) because my dad was really concerned and he never really cared for mickey that way. this morning, he woke up early to see how he was and he hs called him a few times to play. i just thought i would share...
