Has anyone experienced anything like this with their cat: Bo, the recent park feral rescue is being treated for a mild URI. This morning she went into a sneezing fit and a lot of mucous with blood was coming out her nose. We are taking her to the vet this afternoon, but curious if anyone has had this happen with their cat, and if so, what was the diagnose?

hopefully it is nothing more than a side affect of the URI, but it is very gfood that she is going to the vet. As a cat who lived outdorrs, she might have been exposed to all sorts of terrible diseases. (so make sure she gets tested for FeLV/FIV) Let us know what happens, and what the vet thinks.

She has had complete/extensive blood work when we first rescued her, which checked out free of diseases. I did find this site, which is now worrying me a bit:

K & L, there is something going around because of the numbers of furkids, even inside ones, who are contracting URI. No, I havn't had or seen what you are describing with any of my furkids. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about unless it persists for a few days. It could be that she is having a dry sinus problem, and the cooler weather is not helping any. Please keep us up on the outcome. thanks

Let's keep our fingers crossed you're right! It's always nerve wracking when something is wrong. Plus if it's contagious I have 16 other cats to worry about:eek: I would think if it was anything contagious it would've shown up in the initial blood work! I will let you all know after the vet visit. It's always good to know these FYI's in case anyone else's cat would have similiar symptoms.

I hope everything turns out ok. Maybe she is just having slight nosebleeds like humans do with irritated sinuses!!! Please let us know when you find out something!;)

The vet gave her more antibiotics and is treating it for the next week still as a URI. If she's still doing this after a week of medication then they will have to look further into this with chest and head Xrays. I will keep you all posted.

Latest Update:

Bo is still sneezing gobs of mucous with blood. We took her again to the vet yesterday afternoon. They did an xray and said they may see a spot on the forehead area and they are doing a culture. They said she may have a tumor or cancer, but the culture may rule that out. We now have to wait to the beginning of next week until we hear anything. They have to wait for the culture to grow. I feel so depressed, but my husband said to not think the worst right now. She is so sweet and I'll be heart broken if something serious is wrong.

I'm sorry to hear about Bo. I have no experience with the symptoms she's showing but your husband is right in saying not to think the worst. It's so easy to fear the unknown, and right now you need to concentrate on sending positive vibes to that beautiful feline!

Paws and fingers crossed for a positive outcome!!

Thank you so much! I guess what's really scarying me is the spot they're seeing on the Xray. We just got Porch taken care of and now this! It's so nerve wracking.
