My poor little Noel....I subject her to horrific things...

I bought a new harness last week and thought I could take one of the cats outside for a walk this weekend. I picked Noel because she cries and cries to go outside with me when I water the plants on the balcony.

I put the harness on and she instantly flopped to the ground and then just laid there. She wasn't mad and quickly realized it was on and she couldn't do anything about it. I clipped on the lead and took her out on the balcony. She laid down at first and then saw the plants she loves to chew on. She was doing good, until I got my great idea.

We have a grassy area in our complex close to our apartment that I thought she would really enjoy. Lots of grass to eat. ;)

Yea...she didn't. As soon as I left the front door, she began her "I'm going to the vet cry". I thought that once she saw where we were going, she would be OK. Nope...it got worse. :( I out her down on the grass and she almost stopped crying until this man came by with his Jack Russell. He was on a leash, but loose, allowing the plastic thing to bang all over the sidewalk. I grabbed Noel and held her to my chest while the man said "Don't worry, we have two cats." I said, "She's never seen a dog, so she's very scared." Meanwhile, the dog is jumping about three feet in the air, trying to get at Noel! (I am SO a cat person! ;) ) The man sits on the ground at least 25 feet away and gets out his cell phone for a chat!

Now Noel is scared and I turn to take her home, trying to ignore the dog. The dog wants to play with Noel...and procedes to wrap himself and his leash around my legs. The stupid guy just sat there yelling the dogs name!

Thank God, my hubby heard Noel crying and he rescued us. He took Noel from me and walked back to our apartment. I had to untangle the dog from my legs and started walking back too. The dog decided that he wanted to come get Noel from our apartment so he began chasing David! I had to hold the dog so David could get home without this dog annoying Noel anymore...all while this man remained on his cell phone, yelling the dogs name!

We finally got inside and David gave all the cats treats while we took the harness and lead off Noel. She was fine!! She doesn't hate me and even wanted to be pet. Thank goodness. That's my sweetie girl!

Anyway, hope this provided some sort of entertainment. ;)

Poor little Noel...

Sounds like she had an exciting adventure.... (would love to hear the story told from her point of view ;))

I bought Tinky and Jupiter a leash and harnass last year... they love going outside... but I take them out the back door... they are scared to death of the front door... (they start doing their cry for help "i'm going to the vet" too.) But they don't associate the back door with the vet soooo they looooooove the back door. silly babies.

Sara,
That is what I'm thinking. We want to buy a home somewhat soon and I figure I can try again that way.

Poor Noel :(
Juni is also afraid of the outdoors. I don't have a leash, we have a fence and she can't go on the street. But maybe she's afraid because we live right in the center and there's a lot of noise. I hope we'll also buy a place in a quiet area. Unfort. in Moldova now, the prices for apt and houses are very high. You can buy in credit only very expensive places :(

OMG after the bad stories are over, they are much more entertainment than the good ones.
Poor little Noel -I never tried with a harness. Filou would never accept it.
Tinky and Jupiter -you two look like you're enjoying yourself.

In summer, our balcony is full of flowers -so that's the cats' garden then.

Barbara,
Does Filou go outside? Noel still loves it outside, just not with that horrible leash on. ;)

Oh my! Poor Noel !! And she was so close to enjoying the grass too. Figures a dog would be in the way, and a hyper one at that!

Glad there were no hurt feelings. It's still too cold and snowy here to take Nakita outside, but I'm getting her use to the leash.

;)

We just bought our home 6 months ago, and Nakita was our house warming present! Your cats need a backyard...buy a house, buy a house!

I ADORE that picture of Tinky and Jupiter in the grass - I want to be in the grass with them too! We're getting dumped on with snow right now, and it's so depressing!

It was beautiful out today in Michigan. Moo was such a pest when I was getting ready to run errands. He kept trying to climb up my leg, meowing as if to say "Please take me with you!!!" So I threw on his turtleneck sweater and took him with me. He sat very quietly on the front seat in the sunshine, just pleased as punch to have some "mommy" time. I was out for about 2 hours. He was so wiped out, he crawled under the covers of my bed and slept the whole day away. That my boy!!!

We're supposed to get 5-10 inches of snow by tomorrow morning. Yippeee (NOT!!) I wonder what CT is going to be like. Can't wait for Spring to get here. I love taking Moo with me. He's attracts alot of attention and loves every minute of it. And he's great on the harness too. My other cats could care less about being outside.

Poor Noel !! I hope he isn't to much impredded by that doggie ...!
I know , doggies are nice too , but how can a cat-who-never-saw-one , know that , hey !!

When Edwina first came to live with us we were in a townhouse with a bricked and fenced patio. She was to be an inside only kitty but she cried so at the door when we were on the patio -- we got her a harness and let her join us.

One day my husband decided to take her to the grassy common area. She was TERRIFIED. I don't know if it brought back bad memories of her days as a stray or what.

Now that she has her own safe backyard...she is very comfortable hanging out there in her harness!

I think Noel would like being outside in her own backyard.

Edwina is such a cutie...especially in that first picture. How old was she there?
