Ever since the horrid Shenica White Accident in Vancouver B.C. Canada the S.P.C.A and many shelters all over Canada and the world has gottin Pitbulls left right and center as if they were nothing. I think it is very harsh that people have these stereotypes mushed into their head. Most of the people think that all pitbulls are visiouse and will rip you up .. There has been a bunch of pure bred Pitbull puppies *with beautiful markings* in the Kelowna S.P.C.A since the Shenica inccedent and non have been adopted with ease .. People have been terrified of them, thinking they will grow up to be monsters..

People in Japan are fighting these dogs to death for pleasure. It is horridly unhuman. These dogs are penned up and kept as fighers only non other.. These dogs are shown know love or appretation by their owners. http://pbrc.net/pictures/death2sm.jpg

Thank you for posting this painful yet important information. There is also a wonderful women named Diane Jessup who is pretty much the premiere pitbull expert in the country. She's got some great (and graphic) information on dog fighting here in the states.
She also has some good info on who is feeding the negative propaganda. Discovery Channel (who owns Animal Planet shame on them!) is one of them as is Iams and PETA. PETA recently started a program to get all pitbulls in shelters euthanized to make room for the "nice" dogs. She provides addresses to write if you wish.

Hey, not a problem. :) I'm always willing to pass on positive bully dog stuff. I'm just so lucky that Diane lives in the same area I do.

yes kat, i agree diane jessups site is a good one. the pits are a misunderstood breed. at our clinic we see some awesome ones not animal agressive or human aggressive will knock you over for hugs and kisses. saw three today with names like lollipop, popcicle, honey what do you think?? they were the sweetest babies but were raised right obe. training, lots of love and socialization of course one of our other clients asked him if be bred the dogs he said no they were their pets. some pits have even been used in therapy work with proper handleing they can be a very productive member of the family.

Yep, I've got a pitbull mix in therpay dog training right now. I always get people asking me if pitbull are allowed to be therpay dogs. Of course they are! They have a tail, 4 legs (well, most of them!), a tongue and they know how to use it!

great work cheshirekatt. i handle a german shep pup that was beaten and ears cut off and blind from the blows to the head. she is our spokesdog on abuse and even has two billboards in our town on animal abuse. she is in training for therapy work also she goes to the schools with me to teach pet safety and proper care. she is so sweet she lives at our animal control and care center where she has 24 hour care and on the weekends she comes to my house. and holidays she is 5mth old. and a love. i believe there is no bad dog only bad dog owners a dog acts inthe matter that it was raised.

That's fabulous!! When Joxer is all certified, I'd really like to take him to schools through the Delta Society and teach dog safety. Do you have any good reference materials you can suggest for me?

yes!!! check with the american kennel club they have a great pet safety program all the materials tapes work books coloring books book markers all kinds of stuff also check with your local kennel club if thereis one if not check into starting one. our local kennel club does a lot here in town we donated to the humane society for the spay day usa we help leash break the dogs at the humane society we have donated food to the animal care and control center we hold obe training for the general public and we have a fun match every year at halloween to raise money for the south ga search dogs. we raise money for our bomb and drug dogs. our fun match is open to all dogs not just registered dogs and we have a costume contest at this we pass out information on good pet ownership also purinia, petigree, science diet and alpo have some great training tapes on pet care and sample bags check with all of them. i dont have a scanner yet but as soon as i do and learn how to use it i can send some articals that the paper on ft. benning did on me. and the school has asked me if i could change my day off to come out because on tues or wednes of this coming week abc and cbs will be at the school filming the kids something about all the soldiers being deployed over seas and they want noel there so she may make national tv again. and the p.a.w.s. committe even erected 2 billboards in town with noel on it to make awareness of animal abuse. good luck its a great program to start.
