answer to What Breed Is This?

I think it kind of sounds like it might be a Brittany Spaniel. That is what my cousin thought to.:confused: I have a black brittany but there is fox-like colored ones.

brittanys have medium long hair though...apparently this dog has very short hair

If it's the same thread I'm thinking of, this dog had upright ears and a curled tail....brittanys have drop ears and a cropped tail....doesn't sound anything like it. I have never heard of a fox or a black colored brittany. I thought they were all white with brown spots.

u can get britanys with black markings, but not pure black ones... the standard allows white with roan or liver markings, or tri coloured, but it doesnt even mention fox...:confused: and any black markings is a disqualification.
rizzy, do u have a french brittany or an american brittany?

Yeah, I've seen them with roan or liver...but that's it. I've seen springers with black markings though. We used to have a brittany spaniel...her spots were reddish brown, I think that's the roan. There is a french brittany ?

yes...they r seen in black very commonly, and they r a fairly new breed...the black is also allowed in conformation :) ive never actually seen one in real life, but pictures...heres some info:

i thought it was a brittany but you said it had ears up and a curly tail and i thought that maybe it is a chow chow.

my brittany spaniel is black and white
she is an american brittany
her name is Sally
she is used for hunting grouse
she is a pointing dog

Is the brittany part English Springer Spaniel and Pointer?

If I were to breed a brittany and a springer would it be a flushing dog or a pointer, would it be a protecter dog or a family dog???

even when a chow chow has short fur, its still alot longer than what this dog is described to have..
as for ur other question, brittanys were thought to have developed from crosses between english pointers and a small land spaniel
r u planning on breeding ur dog? a brittany springer X would most definatly be a family dog :) as for pointing, thats hard to say, cuz springers arent meant to point...if the brittany parent has alot of pointing instinct, it would probably be passed on to the pups...
brittanys apparently r very good at protection, and springer spaniels are supposed to be incredibly brave...
