I am like a big kid over this prospect of celebrating St Davids Day with you in U.S.A. I think it is because it is sort of ignored in the UK, for example the request from the Welsh Assembly Government for it to made a public holiday was turned down by the UK government. So you guys may get a holiday and we won`t,:D crazy huh! And to be quite honest, you could walk through my town on St Davids Day and not really notice much difference! I am guilty myself too, I havent been paying it much attention this last few years either. The children in the Primary schools do though and it is really nice to attend their special morning assembly.
Anyway, here is a link to some traditional Welsh food dishes.St Davids Day recipes (http://www.recipes4us.co.uk/Specials%20and%20Holidays/St.Davids%20day.htm)
and I have quikly put together this sig pic for the day (though I will most likely change it :D )

But only in PA!! Our school system doesn't even get President's Day off...hmmmm....guess that shows how well thought of they are! lol
Well I'll have to remember March 1st to wish you a happy St. David's Day.

ChrisH,
Thanks for the link to the article on St Davids Day. I had not
heard of this Welsh saint or of the traditions associated with
him. Very interesting story. I also read some of the other articles
in the BBC link, on the efforts to get a National Holiday to honor
him and also raise Welsh pride & awareness of Welsh history.
My Mother & all her family are from Ireland and so Celtic pride
runs deep with us. The recipes all sound delicious. :D
