My little Honey has an undercoat to her fur that tangles terribly when it reaches a certain length. Brushing doesn't help much the tangles come right back later the same day. The only thing to do with her is get a haircut. The problem is it is still too cold. We did the haircut and now she is wearing a fleece sweater all the time and two layered when she goes out for bathroom visits. Would you live with the tangles--very bad--or go for the haircut? I just want it to warm up soon!

You'll either have to brush her every day, or go for the haircut. As long as she's an inside dog, I wouldn't think it'd be too bad. Remember, if her fur gets long again, the sweater will only tangle it more.

I would probably go for an inbetween solution. Thin her hair in the area she tangles in but leave the length. I have to do this with Dixie's panty area and her tail!

My Yorkie has the same problem. Molly will let me brush her occasionally. If I don't keep her hair trimmed fairly short, she turns into a tangled mess. So, I've given up on having a long haired well brushed dog - she wears a puppy cut most of the time.

I worry about her being outside for long periods of time. I can't get her to wear a sweater outside even though it's cold in Iowa, she just doesn't stay out very long.
