Oh, thank you, Butter. I was wondering why you kept coming in and out the window so many times. I got up from my desk to go get my stapler and Butter was lying on the floor playing with something. A closer look indicated a very dead mouse, but not one scratch on it!!!! :p I guess he "played" with it to death!!!! YUCK!!!!!! He is so disgusted with me for getting rid of his toy. There is never a dull moment in this house. :)

I was just thinking, Sara, that if it is considered to be a sure sign of love and devotion for a cat to bring you "treats" like this, then he for sure is the most loyal cat of all!! LOL!!! He did everything but drop it in my lap!!!! :D See, I told you all that he was coming around!!!!

He must have found a nest!!! The window is now closed because he just brought me mouse #2 and it was still somewhat alive....this one, he brought under my desk and I was on the phone with a customer!!!!! :o Hard to explain why I squealed and had to throw the phone down!!!! :)
Oh, Butter, I love you too, but I'm "cutting you off", fellow!!!

I must admit I'm intrigued by the open window in early February!
So what did you do with the live one?

My office is the hottest room in the this house. The rest of the house could be freezing and it is burning up in here. So, I crack the window (it's the kind that slides side to side - typical 70's home). Butter decided that it was a perfect "entrance/exit" for him and he comes and goes at will when it is open. That won't happen when the weather gets warmer and we have mosquitoes, but for now it has worked well, or should I say "until now". He is going to have to use the door like the rest of us from now on. :)
The live one was put back outside on the ground. I fear that it was close to death though. It was only moving its legs, but not walking. :( I love cats, but hate the things they do sometime.

Wow! Two presents in one day! Butter really loves you! I hope you praised him for the job well done!;)

I believe you are liable to get many of these presents, unless you formally thank Butter for his gift and don't let him see you 'getting rid of it'
This happened to about 30 sparrows with my cat Milo.
They really are gifts, and must be accepted graciously.

Since my cats are strictly indoors, do hairballs count as gifts?!:p

I'm still convinced that he thought: She didn't eat the dead mouse so she prefers them alive. :D :D

I think you are right, Barbara.
Poor Butter is so confused - he says "I bring her presents and bring her presents and what does she do? She just screams!"
When you go to a restaurant and see "catch of the day" on the menu - it will now have a whole new meaning!:D :D

So this begs the question...how does one proper thank a cat for such a gift???? Does anyone know what Miss Manners says?

When i first moved into my house , Princess and Michael had a field day hunting and killing mice. Then eventually the rodents decided that they better find a new domicile.:D :D Then they were chasing squirrels and birds , so now they are strictly indoor cats ,it helps the enviroment!

I hope I can figure that one out, Sara, without encouraging him to do more! Just this past week, we have cleared out a huge woodpile on the side of our house (the same side as Butter's window). The wood was rotten and has been hauled off to the dump. Maybe stirring up that huge pile that had been there for so long opened up "hunting" season for Butter. Maybe.... . So far, so good today!!! No new mice, alive or dead.

If Butter brings in a fresh set of "gifts" that are alive, Logan will have them adopted, named and trained in no time!!;) ;)
