It's so cute when Filou rolls up to a purrfect ball. I am sure others do that as well.

Sas, Filou and Miley/Graemer -whoever it is- are candidates for the next "Who am I" game. I showed it to Siegmar, covering your name and signature with my hands and he asked: Did you just take that picture?

Lailamara, your Yin and Yang Tortellini is supercute.

Sara, Edwina looks really comfy there.

They are very close in color and shape! I think that was Graemer, about a month ago. They are sleeping on similar blankets as well. I think Graemer is on a sheep skin rug! I can tell the difference when looking at the two photos at the same time, but apart, I don't think I would notice the slight difference in color/shade of fur!

Aren't those Abys just the cutest?

I'm sure you've heard of cheese tortillini, but how 'bout Peanut tortillini?
Here's an example so you know what to look for at the grocery store next time.

Ritz doesn't "tortellini" as much as she did when she was younger...but she does get the "paws over the eyes" thing going, and does a variation of the tortellini with three of her paws "stacked" together out in front of her - we refer to it as "bundle footing"

Peanut....that picture made me go awww...and..chuckle a little...what is that thing you are sleeping in/on.....I'm warped, I know, but it looks like a carpet condom :)

I call it her "pad" although I don't know what the official name of it is. I got it at Petco for about $10.00 and she absolutely loves it! She will even come upstairs and sleep there in the evenings now, which she never used to do before "the pad" arrived.

I had to get Tubby a bigger one because he didn't fit in that one, and Peanut had claimed that as her own anyway. In this picture you can see better what it is because Tubby doesn't quite fill it all the way up. He still has plenty of room for Samantha to join him. ;) :) Tubby's I got at PetSmart and I believe it was $12.99 or so. He likes it too, but not as much as Peanut likes hers. Maybe Ritzy needs a "carpet condom" of her own. :D

Oh Tubster, you are such a proper gentle-tom!

Hmmm. one for Ritzy is tempting, but it looks like it is made out of that faux sheepskin or shearling material - my experience with that substance has been given a big thumbs down by Ritz. She does like the Purr Padds though, and I think those things feel awful, like the inside of a furnace filter or one of those buffing pads on floor cleaners, but go figure a cat out and win a prize! :)

Hee, hee, hee! Thats for sure!

I'd bought one with a fabric outside and faux fleece inside and Livvy loves it. Cassy didn't want anything to do with it, but he would chase Livvy out of it. (Chivalry is NOT his middle name.) I figured to heck with it and got another one for the computer room when Livvy comes to visit... Now Cassy LOVES that one! Cats! I can't figure them out.

I was skeptical too because they have just never liked/played with/slept on anything I've ever bought for them before. That's why Peanut's still has the tag on it in the picture. I wanted to make sure she - or Tubby - were going to use it before I tore the tag off so I could return it if they didn't like it. I saw those purr pads too, and thought about buying one of those, but I thought the same thing you did about how they feel. These looked more appealing to me so I tried them. They are that fake sheepskin stuff.

The trick to getting them to use it was to put it in a spot they normally slept. Peanut normally sleeps under that table when her daddy is home working, so I thought she might be a bit like this under the table, and sure enough - she adores it. Tubby's I bought because he likes to sit in his "crows nest" (from the loft overlooking the living room) and the carpet gets black from all his hair. So I thought if I put this thing there, at least the carpet wouldn't get black, but he had nothing to do with it while it was there. I moved it to one of his favorite sleeping spots, and now he's in it all the time. 'Course, he was in that spot all the time before the pad, but now I like to think he goes there because of the pad. Probably wishful thinking on my part, but he does seem to enjoy it. Guess I'll have to move it tonight to see if he'll move with it. :) :D

Oh if twer only that easy! I put something new in one of Ritzy's usual sleeping spots and she just finds another sleeping spot. I even left one of those sheepskin things for months, she stopped sleeping there...so I moved it, and of course, she's sleeping there again.

The Purr Padd is also not without it's mystery. She loves the one in the upstairs office window, so I decided to put the second (came in a 2 pack) downstairs, as you said, to keep the black fur at bay that tends to collect like little feline "crop circles" on the various favored furniture. Of course, she wanted nothing to do with THIS particular purr padd..she shoved it off onto the floor. However, said purr padd has since become one of her favorite "toys" She runs crazy into the room and "hides" under it, lying in wait (except for that big butt and tail that stick out) for an unsuspecting mommy toe!

About the only thing I can use as a sure-fire lure is a towel warmed up in the dryer (yup, major spoiled cat here)...that is the only way I can lure her into my lap, also. b ut at night, when she wants to get warm, she crawls into bed with me and curls up by my side.

Ritzy's motto "I'll get what I want, when I want, how I want it" ...repeat after me I AM THE CAT!

We were given a “carpet condom” by a friend once (though I must admit I hadn’t thought of it as such!). It had been slept in before, and Fister took to it instantly. We let him take it with him when he was sent to a “House of Cages”, and after that he would have nothing to do with it for weeks. When we forced his hand by placing it in his favourite position under the bed, he finally accepted and started using it again. It’s still under the bed, but he doesn’t use it much anymore, he sleeps with us up in bed every night now, and has got a new wickerwork bed under the telephone table. The fact that it’s a bit small has never worried him in the least!

I am convinced that Filou would love a "carpet condom" too. He loves everything where he fits in tightly: Here he is doing the Basket Tortellini:

One thing I've noticed on this thread (besides the fact that I want to smooch all of these kitties repeatedly ;) ) is how beautiful the Aby fur is. It reminds me of otter fur; very thick, glossy, and richly colored. It must be a delight to pet them!

That photo is a few years old. Lily's age is uncertain but she is elderly and could NEVER assume that position now, due to arthritis . . . I hope she can hang on for a few more years . . . she is truly an angel, and never left my husband's bedside when he was undergoing chemotherapy. She knew he needed her comforting presence to help him get better.

This thread is cracking me up -- I hadn't realized they looked like tortellini until I saw this. I just remember Sark's line that "cat's sleep circular" and always loved that one.

Mitzi is just too short and round to do a tortellini. She is more like a Russian pelmeny which aren't quite the perfect circle - sort of an attempt at a circle that doesn't quite meet in the middle. :D

Now Mishi -- he's a HUGE tortellini. His long thin body just curls right up and then he wraps his long fluffy tail around himself. I love it when they stick their noses in thier tails. :)

I wish Pixel would stay asleep long enough to curl up into a tortie ball AND remain in position whilst Meowmie takes a pic. Previous missions to capture tortie Pixel have been unsuccessful!

I still think of my Grammy Crackers and that he can no longer do the tortellini thing......

I do love looking at all the other photos!

Boo Hoo..... I shall get over it some day!

SAS I am sure Grammy Crackers is "doing the tortellini" at the Rainbow Bridge. After all, with all of the meeting and greeting and playing around that must go on there, surely a kitty gets tired and must ultimately 'strike that pose.' {{{hugs}}}

Just had to bring this thread back up after seeing it in the listing for winning threads of 2003. My two FINALLY perfected the double tortellini .... Glad I caught this pic as they've NEVER done this again! :)

I have a world class sleeping cat, but at 21 pounds, she cannot make a purrfect ball. She is a stocky cat with a thick neck, and a short tail like a Manx. Her picture is here:

Here's Katie's version... not her usual perfect O but being knocked up will do that to a cat. :)

Hello Redhedd, Sweetie blushed when she read your compliment:rolleyes: This "little girl" guards the bed in case a stray centipede comes my way when I sleep. You have a beautiful family too. :) :)

As soon as katie has her babies I'm sure i'll have a whole bowl of tortellini! (She says thanks btw, RedHEdd.... but then... she's always been rather vain. ;) )

:D :D :D :D Wow! Tortellini is the perfect word for describing this classic kitty pose. Filou has obviously perfected this pose to an Art Form. One of my cats "Cecil" has his own sleeping pose. He prefers to sleep on his back with his front legs streched out forward, and his back legs spread out! He looks slightly obsene sprawled out like this, but he looks so funny and relaxed that it always brings a smile to my face. :) :)

Neither of my two do the "tortellini" very often, though it might come onto the menu as winter comes along!!

This is a professional lazy cat! I love her, she guards the bed at night and the person sleeping in it. See the attachment, when Angel slides in bed there is little room left for me.

LOL!! It starts like this: at 7pm, She goes into the bedroom and secures the bed. I will hit the sack around 10:30pm. It's quiet for about 10 min, then the 19 pound Tabby comes in, jumps up by the calico. He grooms her, but this escalates to swatting, hissing, and we have a regular territorial battle going on. Both knock each other off the bed fighting, then return while I'm asleep, one on either side of me. This ritual has been going on for at least 2 years, it's a riot. They are crazy cats, I love 'em!!!

My two are like that too, there's just not enough room on the bed for two of them! lol!

If I would put Billie's tortelini here, there wouldn't be much to see but a little ball of hair, so I'm posting this one, when she takes a peak at what i'm doing... cleaver little thing. :D

ps: Sorry it's not such a good picture...

I couldn't resist adding Tico here, he just looks so laid back sleeping over the dogs house.

I guess he's not the tortelini type! :D

Tico is more the "open ravioli" type of cat. And you can't say he's bashful:D
