I was looking at King Otis and noticed that his coat was a bit ruffled. So, I got out my trusty pet brush and began to brush him. Now he will sit in front of the monitor screen and lay behind my back, or anywere else where I will notice him. He DEMANDS to be brushed!:o :D

So much better than him refusing to be brushed! Easier on you band-aid supply, too! :)
A king MUST look his regal best, musn't he? ;)

I wonder who would win the "brush-off" contest. King Otis or my Rutherford? I CAN NOT brush any other cat without being RUDELY interrupted by Rutherford throwing his body between them and the brush. So I ask you Otis, Are you letting your siblings get their turn, too?

Jen, Otis' attitude took me by surprise. I had no idea that any of them would be as demanding that I give them that type of attention. :D

My guys just try to eat the brush. And Neko demands that you only brush the sides of his face and he lets you know which side he wants done.

Regarding the fact that I would never dare to clip their claws, that they are crazy if it comes to medication and that they even do not want me just to control their ears, my 2 rascals are rather good boys when I brush them. I think they like it.

My cats scurry away from the brushings, but I have to keep their nails in check. My cats are motsly lap cats and they knead on your entire body and those nails REALLY dig into your clothes and skin, so I have to keep up with the clippings. It's hard to clip Boo Boo's nails because he has many hidden nails which are painful to him if not clipped. :( I wish Minnie would let me brush her because she get tangled and matted too easy with her long coat :(

Edwina would rather have her nails clipped and just about anything else than be brushed.
In fact, those of you who can read cat lips can see in this photo she is using a word she learned from her father....not me.

Wayne, thanks for giving me the idea! I think I will get a brush tommorow and give brushing Ebby a try. It would be so nice if it turned out she liked it as much as Otis.:) (Well, I can dream can`t I?!:D) I will let you know how it goes.

Sorry to be so late with answering this post.
Chris H, I actually had to hide the brush, because it is not only Otis who loves to be brushed, but there are others as well. Sometimes I do not have the time to brush all who want it, and besides, Otis is not the only cat who "hogs" the brush:D It is difficult to get them to sit still long enough to really brush them, including their underside as well. I do not know of any cat that does not like to be brushed, except when they first see a brush, sometimes they will become afraid of it and run off. I tried in on Chris, and he becomes more animated than he normally is, and tries to attack the brush! I was reading the other day about Russian Blues, that they need brushing at least several times a week in order to keep their coat silky. I'll have to keep the brush out so when I sit down to watch TV, I'll also have it ready to brush Puma when she comes for scritchies and sleepies!:) As far as brushes go, I have found that regular $2.00 scrub/dish brushes works just as well as a pet brush, and in fact, some of my menagerie likes them better.:D

Wayne, I cancelled my trip into town today so I haven`t got a brush yet and your tip could save me a pound or so. :) Thanks!:)
