Bella is getting a little brother!!!

OK I can finally post about this!!! Last week I rode up to the shelter where my daughter got little Dandy. She had to return the paperwork regarding her spaying in order to get a little reimbursement that they provide when you spay/neuter. Of course we had to go inside and see all of the kitties and pupsters. What did they have???? Oh my gosh!!!!!!!! A little male, black toy poodle who had been picked up the night before as a stray. To say I was smitten is putting it mildly!

I returned on Saturday with my hubby and of course Bella. Bella and this sweetie sniffed noses and wagged tails happily and hubby 'examined' (hehe!) him as best he could. He was a matted mess, almost the point of abuse. I will never understand how anyone could have neglected him like this!! :mad: Long story short, in my opinion his becoming Bella's brother was a done deal, but we had still had to wait until Thursday (today) to see if he was claimed.

Now, I just got the call! He is mine and I can pick him up after 2:00 p.m. today. They shaved him to the skin (I had visited him again on Tuesday) and he doesn't resemble a poodle at all at the moment LOL! but he is much more comfortable. I just can't wait to get my arms around him again!!! I am trying to condense this whole experience into a few words but it is hard. He is a little doll baby and I feel so blessed to have found him. His name will be Ripley. :) My only hurdle now is to get the cats to accept him and for him to accept the cats. I have no idea how that is going to go. All prayers would be much appreciated. :) I will try and get some pictures today but must warn you he looks a little pathetic right now. I am picking up a little sweater for him on my way up to the shelter and have a bath planned for him later on today. I already made his first vet appointment for Saturday for shots, stool sample, etc. On Tuesday, without all of his matted fur, I was able to see that his 'manhood' is still intact. Unfortunately for him "the big snip" appointment will be set up when we talk with the vet on Saturday. Just wanted you all to share in my joy!

OH MY GOSH PAM!!!!!!!!!!! I am absolutely THRILLED!!!!! This si SO exciting!!! Post as many pictures as you can as soon as you can! Its okay if it takes you awhile though because I know your hands will be full. I'm so happy the little sweetie is going to be in the BEST home!

The only reason I haven't called you tonight is because I know you have to devote every minute to the care and nurturing of the new addition. It was such an effort to restrain myself because I couldn't be more excited, unless he was coming to my house. You are going to have so much fun pampering this little boy and giving him all the love that he has missed out on. I hope everyone will have a good night's sleep. I putting bets on his wanting to sleep under the covers like Tucker does. ;) :p

It's late I know but I wanted to jot a note off before hitting the hay. Ripley is such a good boy. He and Bella had quite a time of it today. First she would sniff him and he'd run and then he'd sniff her and she'd run. No one was upset but there was a whole lot of activity! I have been walking him in the yard, even though it is fenced in, because I'm not too sure about how well he will come to me outside and it is extremely cold outside and snowing. So far he comes to me when I call him inside though! I think he is responding to "come" more so than his new name. He had one pee accident and one poop accident in the house within the first hour he was here. I think it was nervousness though. When I said "NO" he just slunk down to the floor! :) I gave him a nice bath, and after hubby came home he did a little touch-up clipping on him. He was so good being groomed! Just sat there and didn't move or say a word! :) I have him in a crate in my room for tonight and Bella will have her main place on the Big Bed. When he earns his spot on the Big Bed he will be there also. The kitties have seen him, and Trevor gave him a nice big hiss but so far so good. Please everyone keep your fingers crossed. I don't have any pictures because I left my camera at Robyn's. Hubby took a couple tonight with his, so as soon as he downloads them I'll be able to post a few.

Those were my sentiments exactly....even got up a bit earlier than usual. Thankfully our wishes were granted.
