Calvin, the cat I cannot hold, went to the vet today. The last time I had him trapped inside a carrier was in May 2002 when I brought him home. Needless to say, I was worried!
I bought a special top loading carrier for him because there was no was to stuff him into a vari-kennel even if I would place it door-side up. Since I can only hold onto him for about 5 seconds, I made sure he was in the same room with the open carrier. I grabbed, stuffed, slammed! He's in! Took him only moments to realize there was no escape and pannicked. But thankfully calmed down rather quickly.
Well, he was a perfect (petrified) gentleman. They clipped his nails and gave him his shot, took his tempoerature, weighed him (12 pounds) and not a whimper from him. Although he did have himself curled in a tight little ball the whole time. Vet said his heart was racing!!!! but he got a clean bill of health and an approximate age of 5 to 6 years old (we did not know).
So.....won't have to worry about that for another 12 months. (6 months, if I still can't do his nails at home).
I am proud of you Calvin, I just hope you don't mistrust me for too long, now.
WHEW !!!

Congratulations, Calvin, you brave boy! And don't blame your mom, she's just doing this for your own good. ;) :D

Calvin- you are such a good boy!!!!! I am glad to hear you are well and healthy (and a BIG BOY, TOO). Don't stay mad at MommaJen, she wants only what is in your best interest.

Jen, what about Mousie?

Jen, I am glad the vet visit went smoothly for Calvin and you, and, of course, that he got that very important clean bill of health. :)

well, Calvin is not holding a grudge. He let me pet him already so all is forgiven.

I did not take Bill the mouse today, I know in my heart that it is a simple wart, and did not want to take him today (It was only 16 degrees out this morning....too cold for that tiny body)

Jen, I am glad you had such good luck with Calvin. My experience with my latest addition, Gabe, was about the same. He was good as could be, although his reputation (when at the Vet with the previous owner) was much different than his behavior with me at the Vet. I really think he was so much "out of his element" that he didn't have the confidence enough to let it rip with the new Vet!

Cats can be real monsters for the poor Vets and their assistants. I am always embarrassed when that happens!

No what's even more embarrassing is when the techs own cats are bad!! Pumpkin tries to beat up Dr. Sova and I'm always so embarrassed. I always tell her to quit beating up my boss!!! Cookie growls and hisses at him with her bad breath, and Neko and Tama are the biggest sqirmers in the world.

Good for you Calvin for being so well behaved- see, the vet's wasn't too bad, was it?!
