I just e-mailed them. My husband can either cover the Washington, Pa., to Somerset, Pa., or the Somerset, Pa., to Carlisle, Pa. leg. He won't allow me to do it since I'm 8 months pregnant. I'll have to teach him how to use the digital camera between now and then. If he does go, I'll want pictures since I can't be there. :(

I can cover the Washington PA to Somerset PA or Leg 9 but not 10. Perhaps if Stenograsaurus can get her husband to cover leg 10 we can fill two of the required legs.

Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

Souraya, we went to Yahoo Groups under pets and then dogs and just signed up for the transport/rescue groups and that's how we find ours. There are a lot of them in GA, SC, NC, FL area., but I will be happy to post any for the GA area.

I will be coming through your area both Saturday and Sunday Amy. Saturday we will be taking a dog from Angola, IN to around Sandusky, OH (depends on how far the other people are willing to go) and on Sunday I have to be in Maumee, OH at 8am!! UGH....that means getting up at about 5am!! Then I will be taking 2 dogs, a male dal with no name and a Keeshond named Bear to South Bend, IN (actually we agreed to meet at Middlebury and shorten my trip slightly). Mike may or may not go with me both days because he would be doing 2 OTHER transports!! lol

Here's the updated e-mail I got today.Hi Everyone,
First, I want to thank everyone for volunteering to help with this
transport. All of your help is greatly appreciated.

Most of this trans is half filled. I still need leg 4 (Effingham, IL to
Indianapolis, leg 6 (Richmond, IN to Columbus, OH) and leg 8 (Cambridge, OH
- Washington, PA). I'm not worried about leg 10 because I will do that if
know one volunteers.

If you know of anyone who can do any of these legs or partial legs please
have them e-mail me at [email protected].
The cities can be adjusted as needed. I will be posting an updated
transport to all the lists again.
Thanks, Lynn Grenier

Candy,
Could you possibly cover Leg 8? I just talked to my husband and he said that he could cover the Somerset to Carlisle leg if needed, but the leg 8 is what is needed the most. Did you check out the transport needed for the two Golden Retrievers? They need legs filled from Washington to Harrisburg.

Candy,
The last e-mail I received from Lynn said that all legs are covered except for 45 minutes in IN. Are you covering leg 8? If not, this could free you up to help out with the Golden Retrievers on Sunday.

Candy,
There's a reason why you can't fill the legs for this one and it's because you're needed for the other one!!!! ;) I hope all goes well.

Okay I guess I don't use Yahoo enough...I went to groups, but couldn't find "pets"

It was nice meeting you and Mike and Sophie this morning! Hope your trip went well! Of course after the fact, I realized I should have offered to get the dogs in Maumme and bring them to you in Indiana to save you some miles. It has been a crazy week here, but that's not a veryy good excuse :) Oh well, next time!! Looking forward to the pictures!

The transport didn't go as smoothly as we had expected. The lady that my husband was supposed to meet on Sunday morning was involved in a serious car accident Saturday. She suffered four broken ribs, a broken arm and had lost two of her teeth. Needless to say, she could not complete her leg of the run. We had received the phone call cancelling the trip at 8:30 Sunday morning, half an hour after my husband had already left. Fortunately he was in cell phone range so I was able to get a hold of him and he came right back. One of the dogs was also pretty scared. He would not go into the home that he was supposed to spend the night at. The owner of that home slept with her door open all night hoping he would come in, but he wouldn't. But with a lot of work on Lynn's behalf, someone was found to fill in the leg. My husband was to meet her at 4:00. He left the house around 1:00, giving himself three hours to get to Washington, because of snow. About 2:00 I had received a call at home that the lady Roger was supposed to meet was running an hour late. So my husband sat in Washington from 3:40 until 5:05. But all went well after that. Roger put the scared dog up front with him and rubbed his head the whole way there. The dogs were pretty tired and pretty much slept the whole way. He said if he was close to home, he would have dropped off the light colored one. He said that he was so friendly. My husband met Lynn and her husband at 7:00 and the dogs got home about 11:00 that night. Apparently the lady that had owned them travels a lot on business. She had hired somebody to care for the dogs and he had not done his job. Once she found out the condition the dogs were in (malnourished and neglected), she decided to place them in rescue. They are safe and sound now.

If you click my photo album below and go to the 3 yellow lab album, you'll get to see Amber, Honeybee and Skylar.

What a day for the transports! Weather did not co-operate for us either. Glad they finally made it to their forever home though!!! :D
