Monroe left me this evening...

My sweet and crazy bottle-fed baby Monroe left me this evening! He was almost 11.
His appetite wasn't very good the past couple of days, and then this evening, he wouldn't eat at all and he hid under the bed.
Then he came out, crying in distress and falling over. I rushed him to the emergency clinic, where they diagnosed him with a saddle thrombus. That's a blod clot that cuts off the blood supply to the rear legs. It's incredibly painful, and treatments are usually unsuccessful. Cats with heart issues are more likely to develop those clots.
When I heard the diagnosis, I knew that the right thing to do was to let him go.
I wasn't ready for him to leave so suddenly. He was the nuttiest kitty I've ever known, and I have known him since he was 4 days old.

I am so grateful for all of you.:love:
All of a sudden, feeding time is so boring and so fast. No more pill preparation, no more coaxing (which was necessary occasionally), no more wet nose peeking over my shoulder when I'm on the computer...:(
I prepared his precious little body for cremation today. Our hospital has a crematory in the basement.
This is the first time I chose cremation. All the other kitties are resting in the garden.
Monroe, I still hear your loud purr and I can feel your rough tongue on my fore head. There will never be another one like you!:love:

Monroe was way to young to go to the Bridge, and this happened so suddenly .....:eek:
It is so very hard to have to let go one of your dear pets....., I know, since I lost 3 of my 4 girls in only 9 months...
