The past few months, Miss Kitty had this on-and-off cough, very subtle. It would go away for a few weeks and then come back. Her lungs sounded always clear, so she got the occasional antibiotic.
Two day ago, it came back, and Miss Kitty looked a little weak and a little off. The vet looked at her, lungs still sounded clear, but she ordered x-rays.
As soon as I saw the images, I noticed a spot in one of her lungfields that was not supposed to be there! The vet compared them to x-rays taken in February, and it wasn't there then!
There are only two possibilities: the better one is some infection, the other one is a mass:(.
Miss Kitty got an antibiotic injection in the hope that it is infectious.
We will repeat the x-rays in one month, and, hopefully, the spot will be gone.
I did not want to end the year with news like that, but I want to stay positive.

Heidi, I so hope the next x-ray will show no spot in Miss Kitty's chest.

Sending healing thoughts to your sweet girl. :love:

Thank you all!:love::love::love:
Miss Kitty is still eating well, but she seems much quieter.
I'm glad that her BFF Olive is always close by to keep her company!

Update on Miss Kitty:
We repeated her chest x-rays. Unfortunately, the spot in her lungfields is still present. It has increased in size by 2mm and also is more dense.
She's doing fine, no coughing or other clinical signs. The vet said that, even if it is a tumor, it appears to be very slow growing.
We will repeat the x-rays in another 4 weeks.

Miss Kitty is sending head bumpies to everybody!:love:
Since we don't know what this is, there's no recommendation for any treatment. The antibiotics didn't do anything.:(
But as long as she's doing as well as she is right now (no discomfort, no coughing), it's a wait-and-see approach.

Today, Miss Kitty had her 3rd round of x-rays taken. The mass is still growing, but, thankfully, she still not showing any clinical signs.
She's just a sweet old lady who loves to eat and sleep. I hope it stays that way for a long time!

Sending love and cuddles and headbumpies to Miss Kitty! Wouldn't it be great if it was 200 years from now and we could just zot that mass with a laser beam or something?

When Oscar doesn't want to finish his wet food I sprinkle a small amount of parmesan cheese on it. It helps.

PT Prayers going out! :love::love::love:

Thank you, Randi!:love:
I am very worried, and Miss Kitty is probably wondering why I look at her constantly and why every little hiccup gets my attention.
But her vet said, due to its slow growth, it probably won't cause any problems for a while.

This past weekend, Miss Kitty started coughing ever so slightly, and she had vomited a little bit of liquid. She also started leaving a little food in her bowl at every meal time.:(
I took her to been seen yesterday.
She had lost a little weight. The vet couldn't hear her breath sounds, because every time Miss Kitty gets touched, she starts purring;), but she didn't think there was any fluid in her lungs.
Her next x-rays are due on March 22, but if she continues to cough and to loose weight, we will do them sooner.
This old lady needs to stay around!
