Happy Birthday to PetoftheDay.com, DogoftheDay.com and CatoftheDay.com! Now that you're over 21 we can toast with a "grown up" beverage. Plus, Facebook tells me it is national beer day! And it's Friday. So here's to the sites! Happy birthday! And a "Best Wishes" to Karen for her big move, too :D

Thoughts and prayers for everyone east of me (I'm in Chicago) who is in the path of the hurricane. Please be safe! Caring thoughts!

We are joining you in the thoughts and prayers for our Pet Talk friends and everyone else near the East Coast in Florence's path. May you stay safe and keep well.

Thank you, Elyse and Pat!
I've been here for 24 years, and I have never been this worried about a hurricane. Its path has changed slightly, more to the South of us, but the impact won't be much different.
Schools will close tomorrow at noon, and will obviously be closed on Friday.

Listening to national news on the radio, prayers said and positive thoughts sent! I'm waiting for news about hurricane relief from organizations like the Red Cross, Samaritan's Purse and the Salvation Army. I'm sure there will be something on the radio, TV or on line soon. Will check over the weekend.

Several shelters, run by the Red Cross, are now open in our area for evacuees and their pets.
I feel incredibly sad for those people. I myself could not imagine leaving my home, so I can understand that some people risk their lives by staying put.

Yesterday was not as hot out as the previous week. It felt more like fall than summer, a bright sunny day. There was football on TV and I was looking through recipes for chili and stew. It's that time of year :)
