View Full Version : Lily's lump
Thanks, my memory is terrible. Lily will go to the vet Jan. 5. Goin' to a new vet, the other ones a little weird. Got the cage out, her fave stuff inside and all around it. Thanks cats4ever, maybe she will be less freaked this time. This vet is closer too, less time in the car, she hates the car. Nothing really new, just figured I should move this stuff to a new thread.... I have no clue why, but I suppose there must be some reason or it wouldn't be suggested....I'm sure I'll forget to find the thread again anyway:D

Because this is about your kitty, and it deserves it's own spot.
Let us know how the vet visit goes, and what the diagnosis is.

Good luck at the vets, Lily!
Excellent advice about getting her cage out so she will get used to it - she might even go and sleep there. Perhaps put a few treats inside. ;)

We are sending along loads of love and prayers and warm healing energies to dearest Lily, that her exam by the new vet goes well and results in promising news.
Lily definitely deserves to have her own thread, so we can keep track of her condition and send along all kinds of good wishes.

Thank you so much!! Her appt. is on Fri. I sure will let you all know, your the best! Trying to think positive here.
Lily's appt. is in a couple hrs. EEeeek! Inched the crate into the bedroom where she hangs out. She hid under the bed for a while but finally came out to play with the feather wand. Now she is sleeping under the quilt. I realize when we first brought her home I held her so the only time she's been caged is when getting spayed, shots etc. No wonder she hates it. Anyhow, what will the vet say.....the lump on her neck has grown significantly and changed. It grew so fast, from hard and tiny to bigger and softer. Enough, gotta keep busy, catch you later freinds.

Thanks phesina, scary day. The Vet is going to remove the lump on Mon...three days from now. He says her heart sounds fine, the other vet said she had a heart murmur. That is a relief but weird, glad we changed vets. Anyhow, getting her in the cage is far easier and I am learning a lot. Thanks everyone for all the support. I am in tears of course now that it's sinkin in. Lily is on the couch asleep with her Papa, I am with Mia the elder, worrying me pants off. Just need a minute. Unfortunately both my ears are infected and I am on antibiotics, and have a dreadful cold. I am deaf in both ears right now so I am not quite clear on what's up. Just know the basics, we are taking it out, go from there. Thank you for all the support, I sure hope everything turns out okay, you are so helpful. The new vet seems pretty great.

Sorry to hear about Lily's lump :(
It's good you changed vet! We did same thing few years ago, and this one she have now is such a sweetheart.
He always takes lots of time for you and your pet, he gives people all the time they need!
I'm sure your Lily will feel so much better after that lump has been removed! I spray all will go well!
I see your cat hates to be in a car. Maybe I can help you with that!
Our Inka absolutely hates to be in our car, in her transport box.
Because we go rather often to our appartement at the sea (Ostend), we had to find a solution.
Well, we found it! This is what we did: we put the box on one of the backseats, and then cover it tight with coat or something else, making sure that Inka couldn't see any light. Guess what: she slept all the way every time (70km!)!!
Good luck!

Cole has a grade 3 heart murmur and has gone through one dental surgery a few years ago and having his spleen removed last year. He did just fine.:)
If the lump is just under the skin it won't be a big surgery. You'll have your kitty back safe and sound before you know it.

mon, I'm sorry that Lily has to undergo surgery. I'm glad though that you like the new vet, trust is so important.
Did they give you any indication what kind of growth (benign vs malignant) Lily has?
Either way, I wish you and Lily the best of luck with the procedure!:love::love:
PS, it's not that weird that one vet heard a heart murmur, and the other one didn't. Miss Kitty's emergency vet heard one, but her regular vet didn't, and I trust her more.

Well, that sounds promising. This new vet seems an improvement on the old! We are sending along more good wishes and prayers that the surgery goes well and Lily recovers and heals nicely with good results.

You all are so supportive and kind, it means so much. How it went was, my husband Shawn said he wants it out no matter what, the vet said okay and given how fast it grew we need to nip it in the bud. SHawn does not want to know if it is malignant or not once it's out. He just wants to move on in oblivion, like nothing happened. While I can understand that, in a way, not sure it's the best plan....:D:rolleyes: We'll just let it unfold, he's a little testy when it comes to Lilybell. Aren't we all

Oh yes, Shawn will drop her off in the a.m. And pick her up after work. About 11 or 12 hrs. And she'll be back home safe and sound if all goes well. It is in a spot where she cannot lick at the stitches, which is a blessing indeed. It is just under the skin, not attached to anything so it should be a very simple procedure he says, I'm sure it will hurt afterwards though. Poor Lily, I'm scared but all your support helps so much. Thank you!!

That's good to know, thanks. Lily was so stressed out that I thought it was simply fear and stress that made her heart sound strange.

Sounds like a plan, and for not wanting to know what it is: Everybody has their own threshold, and we should accept that. We have clients who have the same mindset, It certainly doesn't mean that that they don't love their pets!
Keeping my fingers crossed that Lily will do well tomorrow.:love::love:
Thanks, Lily can't eat after an hr. and a half until she gets home tommorrow evening. she is going to freak out, no doubt about it, the only thing she enjoys more than eating is, well.... taking a right Royal round out of her big sister. She wakes me at 5 a.m. For breakfast every day, not really sure what I am gonna tell her :p. I wonder if they would call me as soon as it's over, otherwise I will probably phone non-stop until it's done. It should be in the morning but if there are any emergencies they will certainly take precedence. I will ask, I don't see why that would be a problem? I am glad it's being done, it is growing so fast.

I'll never sleep tonight. :D
Well, not much sleep but there will be no surgery for Lily today. Her and Mia, her partner in crime had a covert mission to quietly break into th pantry and knock over a large container of Temptations and chow down. No tellin' how many they consumed but judging by the splatter crap in the litter.... too many. Guess we better reschedule. She's pretty happy with herself however, doing wind sprints up and down the hall
Neither one of them are showing any signs of remorse whatsoever, little devils. Surgerys on for tomorrow.

Thanks so much peeps, the vet says all went well, we can pick her up at around 5! All your kind wishes helped so much, can't wait until she's home. I sure hope Mia leaves her alone, she is usually the one getting bullied but she will smell different, might upset her. Hafta keep them separate for a while maybe?
One more hr. to wait, cleaned all the litter boxes. No way she can wear a cone, it was right on the spot where a stinking cone would rub. Hate those things, she wore one forever after she got spayed, probably caused the bloody lump. Well maybe, anyhow the only way I can imagine her ripping out the stitches is pretty easily with her back feet when they get itchy. No idea what to do about that ,as one must sleep and no stinking cone. Can't wait to see her! Gonna give her painkillers so she won't be in so much pain.
Hey, thanks again for your support. My I pad is giving me grief, so to sum it up...Lily, she is back, hungry, happy, crazy and as playful as ever! They shaved way too much hair off IMHO. Will itch a lot I think, praying it heals well, thanks freinds!!

I'll keep that in mind, great idea, thanks Karen. If she starts scratching she'll definately need a short, cotton, turtle neck T. Can't be hard to find or make out of baby clothes.

I'm glad that the surgery went well. I wish her a speedy recovery, and hopefully, she won't get too itchy.
Thanks so much, so far Lily is the perfect patient. She eats well, takes her meds, sleeps and even plays already. She looks adorable with her turtle neck on (So cute!) stitches come out in 11 days, if I can just keep her away from scratching them I figure all will heal well. We'll do our very best! They shaved so much, it's gotta start itching soon and the incision is way longer than I expected. Vet phoned today to check on her, that's impressive! :D

They will shave quite a bit, and the vet will make a large incision to get good margins around the growth, in case it is malignant. If any part of the growth is left behind, it can spread just like it was never removed.
Could we see a picture of Lily? I love kitties in clothes. I'm glad that she's doing so well.
I will try to get a snapshot, not something I do well. I will try. I get why the incision is so long now, thanks again!

I think your incision looks great. Purrs and headbumpies from my kitties!
Thanks guys, it was Karen who posted Lily's pics for us. I think Lilybell thought she was getting meds, might be why she didn't smile so much :D She is doing great though, a happy camper indeed! Thanks again Karen! Shawn thinks we should take out the stitches ourselves when the time comes, save her the stress of a road trip, cage horrors etc. We did it before when she got an infection from our last vet, he thinks it was because her clinic was unsanitary. Our new vet, however might be confused or insulted if we do that. I am sure he would like to do that himself, follow up you know. What do you all think? Any thoughts are welcome, not sure where I stand really.
Today Lily's favorite visiter, Carter her cuz, a little person came over and played with her. She had the best time, she really loves that kid! We got her stitches out, she's perfectly fine. Thank you all so much for the support. All of you, we were so worried and Lily is just fine now. Can't thank you enough, your support means a lot

I gave tons of smooches and cuddles, the vet didn't say anything cuz I did not tell him......it was a piece of cake. All very sterile, you can barely see the scar it healed so well. I figure it saved so much unnecessary stress and drama :D Okay, $ too!:D

Glad to know everything went well.
Just wanted to thank you all again for the support you gave us while Lily had her lump removed. It meant so much! She is doing great, her beautiful fur is growing back, slowly but surely. I finally took off her turtle neck as .... welll... it just looked SO freekin cute, she seemed to like it aaaaand, it's still chilly here, last thing she neeeds is a cold neck 🤷🏾♀️ My husband also pointed out that her head is too small already, he thinks wearing the cone for so many weeks after getting spayed because she got an infection, then wearing a turtleneck to protect her neck and stitches and such..... he says her head is too small. Her head is Beetlejuiced. 🙀 😶
Actually I think her head looks too small because she is a bit chubby, she speed eats so she can eat her big sister Mia's food. Her head it's disproportionate a tad, because her head is not chubby as well 藍 she is a glutton, just keeping it real. No ones perfect eh.
All in jest, we just love our crazy, Beetlejuiced Lilybell!
Lily is a beauty. She pretty much gets away with murder, I am pretty sure she would do as well if she was extremely homely. I simply wish she was kinder to her older sister. As of today, they are both on the sh*t list and are not allowed to sleep with us. They have many rooms to carous and we're fed up. CATS eh. 😺

Thank you sweetheart, me too. I think my husband was afraid it would be a malignancy and was afraid to know. I was too but I wanted to know. The vet just simply added it up and told us, like it or not. What a freakin relief. 😺 Excellent vet 😎
