Our local Humane society, where I have been a volunteer for years, has taken over the local animal control (the dog and cat section) to increase adoption rates and lower euthanasia rates.
Their goal is a 90% adoption rate.
In addition, they have been reaching out to adoption agencies up and down the East coast.
They have partnered up with a PetSmart in Maryland, and they will be transporting 50 cats to this location on Wednesday.
I'm very excited to be part of this organization. I know they will have great success.
