What a pretty girl you area Darla, and we are so glad you are now with a forever family who loved you just as much as you love them! We know you chose your family because they were very kind to you when you were loose in their neighbor's yard. And you have repaid that kindness by not only choosing them, but helping other members of their extended family when you saw they were in danger! Dogs know a bad guy when they see one, better than we humans do, sometimes! And we are glad you saved that girl from possible danger, too! We know, as a Border Collie, you need to have a job, and you found yours! Congratulations, pretty girl, you are Dog of the Day for the whole world to celebrate!

Your story brought tears to my eyes. How lucky for both you and Darla. It's so sad when a pet has a not-so-good home but I love a happy ending!

Congratulations on being Dog of the Day.
You knew where you wanted to be and who should take care of you.
You picked just the right family.
You are one beautiful girl. I just love black animals, they are so special, and you fit the bill.
Celebrate your special day, and every day. You are much loved. Something EVERY dog should be.

We love how you got your name Darla! That's one question that we always ask: how did you get your name? There is always a story behind a name, and we love yours! You sound like you have quite the intuition Darla - and you're putting it to good use. Congrats on DOTD! :D

The thing is ... We didn't save her, we believe that because of her personality that she would have found any good home at that point, one that would have loved her almost as much as we do. But she picked us, and I believe the universe was at play, she's brought such a joy to our lives, and to everyone that knows her. She saved us.

Precious Darla! You and your people saved each other! What a great story! I am sending you huge hugs today - some for your doggie-siblings too, please  Happy, happy Dog of the day to beautiful Darla!

Edited to add: I wish you a very long, happy, healthy, fun-filled life with your wonderful people.

Happy Dog of the Day, precious Darla!:) I'm in tears, picturing your beautiful little face peeking into your family's storm door that dark, rainy night! You knew just where, and with whom you belonged, didn't you Darla? And it wouldn't be long before your family would realize that too! I can't begin to imagine how a so called family could treat a furkid as beautiful and sweet as you so heartlessly, abandon you without a second thought!:( But their loss is your family's great gain, for the love and joy you have brought to their lives these many years is truly a heaven sent gift! As your mommy says, you saved them (spiritually and physically!) every bit as much as they did you!
But she picked us, and I believe the universe was at play, she's brought such a joy to our lives, and to everyone that knows her. She saved us. No doubt "the universe," your guardian angel were both at play that fateful day, and the rest is happy history! You're not merely a good doggie, Darla, you're one in a million, a loyal and loving companion, a hero, a Dog of a Lifetime! Please thank your mommy for sharing your heartwarming story with us, along with all of those heart melting pics, Darla! Meeting you has made my day, and reaffirmed my faith in humankind! Enjoy your big day of honor, darling Darla, being loved and pampered to pieces, treated to all your big, golden heart desires and more! Lots of love, hugs and kisses to you, precious Darla, and to all of your furry sibs, too!:love::love: http://dogoftheday.com/archive/2015/March/12c.jpg

Aaaaw what a sweetie. Reminds me of my old doggie Rusty. He was a poodle, but he came from an abusive situation. The previous owner should be ashamed of herself. She lost a diamond in the rough. She looks every inch a sweetheart. I saw an older dog at a shelter I would have so adopted, but not allowed dogs. I'm jealous. Hope she lives long and happy~ Lovely pet of the day. I love her long fur, she is such a lady.
