OK guys....it's letter writing time. I was told that Ingham county, MI's shelters are forced by their elected officials to sell unclaimed animals to research facilities. I'm enclosing my email that I sent and the contact info. Please, please, please, write them and tell them of your outrage.
Ms. Bennett,
I am writing from Allen County, IN. I am appalled at your county's policy of selling unwanted animals from the county shelters to research facilities. I belong to a pet bulletin board that has members all over the world and your policy has been posted on that board for all to see. Please be advised that I, for one, will never visit Ingham County and spend my tourist dollars until that awful policy has been amended and that the county will do what it can to educate its people instead of just throwing away living things so that your county government doesn't have to deal with it. I will be urging the other members of the bulletin board to do the same and email or send letters expressing their outrage.
Thank you,
INGHAM COUNTY
