In a few minutes, Paul will be closing and backing up Pet Talk, before he installs a critical security update on the server. This is very scary and very important, so hopefully it will not take long.

For tech-savvy folks, it is a bug in Linux - the first ever - and effects most web servers in the world, so important we do this!

I read about it this morning. Red Hat, one of the premier groups using Linux, put out a warning that "internet of things" could be compromised...smart appliances and the like. An appliance could be hacked, then the malware would be inside your home (router) firewall or something sinister like that.

How frightening!!! How would someone know they had been hacked by that?

I don't think you would, so it's probably best not to have every single thing connected to the internet.

Well, if your entire website went down and all you data was stolen, you'd know - it depends on what the hackers decide to do. Better safe than sorry!
