Hi everybody,

Our newest addition to the family, Augustus Cattus Sillyius (Gus), formerly known as the kitten in the sewer, is having a problem with his kitten teeth: they never fell out. The vet has said that if they don't come out on their own they will have to be pulled surgically. Have any of you heard of this before? I hate to put Gus through surgery....:(

Yeah we had a puppy come in once that just wouldn't lose those baby teeth. Eventually they did fall out but it was getting to the point where if he didn't lose them, we would have done surgery. I would talk to your vet to see the time frame in which the teeth should fall out.

A friend of mine's cat had htat problem too. The vet said it was due to the fact that she was living rough for about 6 months - so without good food Jasmine's teeth didn't fall out. She had them surgically removed and is much better for it. I don't know how common it is but I think animal teeth are just like human ones - if they baby's don't fall out of their own accord you need to have them removed.

I don't know anything about baby teeth that don't fall out (except that Terry at age 55 still has two that never fell out and the dentist said if they don't bother him why mess with them, so he's still got them) but I just wanted to say I LOVE the name you gave this sweety from the sewer. :D :D

Gus, you silly boy! Don't you know you are rewarded heavily for little teethies? Here's hoping Gus loses them on his own...
