April Fool's Day was always big for me because I love puns, pranks and jokes.

I did pull one joke while I was getting my hair cut yesterday.. I flinched and yelled, "You cut my ear!!!". We all laughed and I began to think about some of my favorite jokes/pranks that I had a chance to pull off over the years.

The one closest to my heart was pulled on a co-worker and dear friend.

Growing up I saw my mom and grandmother pull out a coin purse to pay for their purchases and I associated that with being frugal - that and the two fingers digging into the bottom of the purse looking for change?

This gal was a few years younger than I was and it cracked me up to go to lunch with her and watch her pluck thru her coin purse pulling out her folding money and rummaging thru her change.

I decided that I was going to have a little fun with her so this is what I did.....

She'd leave her purse on the desk so I found out how much folding money she had inside, then grabbed the same amount and put that into my pocket.......I removed all the folding money and put about 60 staples into the stack and put it back into her purse.

------------

I asked her to go on break with me and began to keep her busy by talking to her as we went thru the cafeteria line -she had the coin purse on the tray and I was trying to keep her from looking inside.....

I made sure she was ahead of me as we went to pay......the cashier rang up her food, gave her the total and my friend reached in and pulled out the stapled cash.....the look on her face was of total panic!!!!!

I let her try to get a staple out, then pulled out the unstapled cash from my pocket, handed it to her and I bought her food........

To this day, when I see a change purse, it makes me laugh out loud.

I can honestly not remember any good April Fools Day pranks I ever had pulled on me, or I have pulled. Some longer-term ones, but my family has always regarded pranks as a year-long activity!

I was pranked to the extreme during my senior year of college. My friends saved soda pop cans and stacked them in the doorway of my dorm room (the door opened into the room). I had a clinical rotation and had to be at the VNA office, about a 40-minute drive from campus, at 7 AM. So early in the morning, before anyone else is up, I groggily opened the door with my bathroom bucket and towel in hand, heading for the shower, and you can imagine what happened next. I do believe the falling cans awoke the entire dorm. I was mortified! My roommate, my resident assistant and two or three other nursing majors on the floor (who weren't in the same clinical group) picked up the cans so I could shower and dress and leave for my clinical on time. The friends later told me that they shouldn't have done it on a day when I had a clinical rotation. (Ya think?!)

I think this is the first year in a LOOONG time that I did not even hear one little mumble about April Fools Day. I didn't even see any on Facebook. :(
My supervisor that no longer works with me used to always do something, even if it was just little.

I'm not a fan of the April Fools jokes, especially if they are at my expense. But it was kind of sad to not see any participation this year.
