... and it would have been my fault! :( I was renovating my place over the past couple of days. There is this heavy shelf on one of my walls, and I had to dismantle it to hang the new wallpaper. I had planned to take the shelf to another room while I was working on that wall, but like I said, it was heavy, so I leaned it against the wall first. Since I noticed it was very dusty on the top, I turned around to get a cleaning rag. In this very second, Lily showed up, curious and eager to examine the shelf. Before I could react, she put her paws onto it and it fell over - right onto her. I was sure it would break her spine!! Somehow she managed to escape before the shelf hit the ground entirely, but she was terrified. I examined her and made her walk to see if she was hurt, checked her spine and tail and she looked fine. Otherwise, I would have rushed her to the vet immediately. But she was in shock! She was hiding and was wide-eyed, and didn't react to me; I never saw her like that. She was eventually hiding under the bed where I found her an hour later, and then it was that she finally responded to me and started talking. And she was talking a lot, as if she wanted to complain! My poor sweet girl!

Later, it dawned on me how close I was to lose her, and how quickly things can change within seconds. It's been really creepy.

Anyway, today, she was back to her old naughty self; here she was checking the new carpet that was delivered today:

Precious Lily, I am so glad you're okay! I'm glad you came out of your hiding spot, and that you're back to yourself today. *kisses for Lily and Luna*

Edited to add, I like how the color and pattern of the carpet go with your tabby coat, Lily! And I love your sweet face and the tips of fur on your ears!

That must have been very scary for both of you! Poor Lily is just not used to the furniture fighting back!

Sounds like a close call for miss Lily. Cats are so quick to act before we expect them to, but also very quick to react to danger. She looks so pretty sitting there
on the carpet.

Kirsten, I'm SOOOOOO glad Lily came out of this all right! As you said, it's a reminder of how quickly things can change within seconds.

And I'm so glad Lily has come out from under the bed and is talking to you and speaking her mind.

God bless you both (and Luna too)!

You are so right Kirsten I remember when Pouncer almost hung herself on the wires connecting the cassette deck to the stereo. If I had not heard her thrashing she would have hung herself.
We are so glad that Lily is all right, and is herself again.:love::love:

Oh what a shock! Cats of course can escape from a danger very fast and I am very glad that Lily only got a scare- and nothing worse!

How very scary, Gary. Something similar happened to Lily when she was a kitten, luckily I was at home to save her.

Yes, she was quick, but it was very close. Now every time I look at her, I'm really grateful that she is still with me.

Lily, sweetheart, I am so glad you are ok!!!

My Winnie was not so lucky when she managed to pull a heavy step ladder out from between a wall and my dryer. It fell and broke several bones in her paw. She had to have a cast for weeks. She is fine now, thankfully. So please please be careful.

Kirsten, please give her a cuddle from me, ok? I'm so happy for you both that she is ok.

So glad Lily didn't get hurt seriously and that she's back to her old self. I often hear cats have 9 lives, I have to wonder if there might be some truth to that saying. I hope she got scared enough tobe a bit more careful. Lucky Lily and lucky you.

Oh Lily, what a close call you had! I'm very relieved to know that you managed to get away before you got hurt. No wonder you were so scared.
A nice snuggle session with your wonderful Meowmie will help both of you feel better. Be careful, sweetie.
