I saw a promotion on TV for the Winter Olympics in Russia, which got me thinking that it must be almost Cat Olympics time again :)
Some Of The Events Scheduled Are
Cold Weather Cat Piling.
Synchronized Sleeping.
Kitchen Floor/milk Ring Hockey
Tile Floor Speed Skating (team And Individual Events) And
Lap Curling.
The Events Are Open To All Cat-estants And All Nationalities.
Please Prepare Your Kids To Enter!
Thank You,
2014 Cat-olympic Organizing Committee.
Cassie would like to try a new event this year. She is getting very good at Dining Room / Kitchen Floor Hockey ... when she eats the last little bit of wet food from her dish, she seems to push at it () and I sometimes find it a few tile-widths away from where I put it down for her. If that doesn't work out, she is skilled at Taking Naps in Hidey Spots.

I'd like to suggest an additional event: feather wand rhythmic gymnastics.:D

How about the Long Stretch - I think Patch might be able to compete in that one!

Oh damn, I didn't get pictures of this new event, but anyway, it would have had to be a video. Lucy, I looked after for three weeks loves to be pulled around on the floor, sitting inside a box - the faster, the better. She's a champion! I may ask her family if they have any videos of this, then I will submit them. :D I may even bring my camera when I go visit, so perhaps she will perform. :)

Kimba wants to enter the 5 yd. hallway dash. He could get the Gold in that one. Mac thinks speed eating would be right up his alley. The synchronized sleeping event is something they are both thinking about.

Spook and Isis have been hard at work practicing the team floor hockey event. They act like prima donnas but secretly, they work very well as a team. Don't let them know who squealed to PT...;)

Creative corpse hiding? Patch, what are you hiding?! I saw a photo of you in your daddy's closet, and I think you should be on Cassie's team for the Resting in hidey Spots event!

He's an excellent mouser, but he gets vexed when we remove the bodies. He's taken to hiding them in out-of-the-way places, like under furniture.

My younger Found Hotel Cats are so eager as they are slowly but surely forming Cat Pile Ups like the Found Cat Hotel friends of not so long ago.
They would like to know if Whiska's Temptations drag from the top shelf would be added as Mickey Fluffy Tail and Sydney ChristOfur would be great bets for Gold Medals.
The Team is all ready to go with many Awesome Angels to cheer them on.:love::love::love:

As the second day of competition goes on, we have some interesting perfomances so far.
One of the American participants has taken to the floor in front of the heater vent - Heat Sucking - a new discipline at this year's games is being dominated by the American entrant.
Milk top hockey and synchronized sleeping are also being contested!

Ooo, we've got some contenders for that event! But, I need clarification on the rules. Is it absolutely necessary to come indoors (from their covered, outdoor pen) and toss the hairball on the berber carpet then go back outside?

Yes, that's part of what makes it a medal-worthy throw.

I know it's late in the games, but Patch would like to propose an additional event: Human food server leg slalom.
Wrap around and through the food server's legs continuously from checking the food bowl to the food storage location and back to the food bowl. No points are awarded for ACTUALLY tripping your food server, but extra style points are given for near misses

Amigo is following the events very closely and cheering for all his kitty friends. When I asked him about competing he said it looks like he'll have to wait until the summer games, he wants to compete in computer keyboard dancing and kitty condo climbing/high jumping.

Mac's a natural at the hairball tossing, or "hurling" as he likes to call it. I have tile throughout my apartment and some oriental throw rugs. Does he hurl on the tile? Oh no. Directly on the carpet every time. Does he get extra style points for doing it right by the bed? You know, so I step in it in the middle of the night?

Cassie is going for a tried-and-true routine in the Resting in Hidey Spots event. She's using the back bedroom closet, which has been a successful napping spot for her in the past.

That is called "turd hockey" in my house. It sounds like Yodee is a real contender. Go for the Gold, girl!

Awww, Patch! It's all in the execution! (Seriously ... we call those ankle-hugs around here and I bet you sweetly give your person ankle-hugs when it is meal time! I love them!)

Cassie achieved a personal best in the Resting in hidey Spots event on the last day of the Games. I came home from church yesterday, put my things down, hung up my coat and changed my clothes before she deigned to come out, say hello and request her lunch. I'm still not sure where she was napping. Stinker.
