I accidentally poked my cat, Toto in the eye a few days back. She looked fine but the next day I could see her third eyelid. Her eye was and is watery. s andShe seems fine besides the look of her eye. She eats and play's like normal. fMy mother called the vet and asked for advice. The nurse/vet who answered told her to buy some eye drops and that it will go away with that. I bought Hy Optic Eye Irrigation Solution I asked the salesperson who helped me at Petco if the drops would help, and he said yes. Do you have any other suggestions?

Aww, poor kitty! No experience, just wanted to say I hope she feels better soon! I do not have any kitty experience, but others do here.

Keep watching it and use the eye drops until her eye appears normal. If she doesn't seem in pain, she should be OK. My kitty Isis has chronic eye irritation and the drops do seem to help. Also, it's really important to keep the eye clean. If you notice any type of goop forming, make sure to clean it off as soon as possible.

Hope your kitty feels better soon!

If it were my cat, I would take her to the Vet. You don't want to mess around with their eyes.

I was going to say what Grace has said. Eye issues scare me, and I am off to the vet right away. I don't want to risk permanent damage to the eye.

If you don't see improvement on Monday, please phone your vet. With a holiday coming, they may have reduced hours so phone early.

I always keep Terramycin on hand. My cats are always getting into scuffles, especially Utchie. You can get it on E-bay for $5.89 a tube. Vets will charge you $20-30. The third eyelid is what to watch out for. That's a definite sign the cat doesn't feel well.

my cat got into a fight and when he came in I could see the third eye lid.
it freaked me out:eek: I was crying like a little baby
I did a google search and a lot of them said bring him
to the vet and get it taken care of so you don't risk permanate damage/blindness .
I brought him the next day, they did the eye cream stuff and his eye looked bettter
within 2-3 days:D
I was about $200 for the visit/meds..
BUT I would have never forgiven myself if I waited for it to heal by itself and he ended up blind
Good luck! Hope your baby feel better soon.

Don't wait to long to see the vet if it does'nt heal on its own.

She doesn't seem in pain at all. Whenever she's sleepy, she rubs against my hands like she always does and in that process she rubs her eye against my hand. I'll keep using the eye drops. Thanks so much! Toto loves you!

I will. I told my mom that if she doesn't seem to be getting better, we would take her to the vet. Thanks for the advice (:

At the very least, be in close touch with your vet's office.

Believe me, I wish I could. My mom says she doesnt have money right now. Specially, because its the gift season. I'm keeping a watch on her eye and hoping.it will get better. Thank you for the advice.

I don't know where you live, but sometimes there are low-cost vet clinics. I know that in the Washington DC region the Washington Humane Society runs a low-cost clinic for city residents and the fees are based on your family income level. Maybe there is something like that in your area?

Thanks (: I already took Toto to the vet and it was pretty cheap. It turns out I didn't cause any damage. That her symptoms are becauae of a virus in her eye.

It's always odd how these things coincide. Glad she's okay.

Merry Christmas.
