Advice please

My 5 month shih tzu puppy had UTI's , urinary crystals and the vet thought she had a couple stones. He decided to do surgery (it was 12/9/02). What he thought looked like stones on the ultrasound turned out to be fatty tissue. While she was hospitalized the vet noticed that she has vaginitis. Since her surgery she is urinating very frequently and sometimes she squats and nothing comes out. Is this a post-surgerical issue or is it from the vaginitis?

Do you have her on a prescription diet? It sounds like she has another UTI :confused:

She isn't on a perscription diet but she is on antibiotics (for post surgery and the vaginitis). The vet sees no reason for persciption diet.

Don't have any experience with matters such as this but I did want to say I am so sorry your little girl is going through such a rough time. I do hope this will be resolved with the medication and a little time.

Maybe get a second opinion from a different vet? I'm sure you have a great vet but sometimes second opinions help.

I know there is a prescription food made specifically for dogs with UTI problems. I had a foster on it and it helped a lot.

I am happy to report that Mopsey is doing much better. She just needed time. The vet says this should be the end of her UTIs. This has been a huge set-back in housetraining. I hope that I can get her trained after she is completely recovered. Thank you all for all the advice :D
